Inaccurate trash.
I wanted to like Lumen so bad. The fact is it doesn’t matter what I eat, it’s always sitting near 3 or maybe a high two. An entire week running in less than 20g carbs a day and it says my body is still about burning fat and carbs 50/50. What a joke.
Expensive and never maximized the device
I purchased the Lumen device and used it for six months and let my membership expire. Now to renew it is $35 a month? that is definitely not worth it. It’s an interesting concept, but I think unless you’re a super athletic person, it’s just gonna always tell you to eat fewer carbs to get into fat burn. I really really don’t think it’s worth the money and now I have this handheld unit and I don’t know what to do with it.
Keeps me on track
I really love Lumen. I have struggles with my weight for years and it shows me in really time how what I eat effects my body. Two things I would love to see added, would be a receipt builder and a break down of how many carbs per meal on have used next to the recommendation on the home page.
Lumen is amazing
I decided to gamble and it started rocky because the first device they shipped me would not charge & I thought it was a scam. I got the new working device 2-1-24. I was 235 lbs. On 3-16-24, I am 222 lbs so I have lost 13 lbs in 6 weeks; about 2 lbs a week…easily. How have I lost weight easily? The device has helped by letting me know when I’m burning fat & when I’m burning carbs. Each person is going to be different. I have learned and adjusted to take a walk or exercise/hit the gym or be active when I am burning carbs (4 or 5 Lumen reading). I don’t eat late. If I get hungry late, I drink tea or water or eat pure protein via shake/powder or turkey or tuna. I intermittent fast or warrior or OMAD every other day BUT I pretty much eat what I want…occasionally pizza burgers cookies and even donuts. Quest snacks are great too. I’m not on any fanatical diet or obsessing about carbs or keto even though I technically carb cycle or eat early. The Lumen lets me know what next action I should take activity wise and meal wise and not to go too crazy fasting or exercising and it has taught me balance. I love Lumen and highly recommend it if you have the discipline, will, and focus to follow it and stick to it. There is no way to gain weight and not lose weight if you stick to it!
Good device, clunky app, fake AI recipes
The device is awesome and definitely a great purchase. It’s better at determining my carb needs than a CGM. The app is clunky however. Logging exercise is horrible. And it doesn’t sync with Fitbit, which is my main fitness app. My main beef is with the recipe, which are horrifying, fake nonsense with AI photos. One sample recipe: 1 cup ham, 3 Tbsp. butter, 1/2 cup collard greens. Weird. Who needs 3 Tbsp. of butter to cook half a cup of greens? It’s better to use 1/2 tsp. olive oil and use the rest of the fat calories on avocado or nuts, a healthier fat than butter. And the pic is clearly AI. The ham is actually beef slices. The chia and yogurt seed pic is laughable with the seeds sitting on top. Everyone knows chia seeds absorb liquid. And you shouldn’t eat them before they do that because it’s not good for your digestion. You will need to drink a lot of water. It’s like eating psyllium husk without water. It could even make you choke. I really wish they would use REAL recipes made by a REAL human with a REAL picture. Or just eliminate the feature because anyone who doesn’t know how to cook would make these recipes and be extremely disappointed.
Watch out - will auto change even when you’ve canceled the service
I’ve reached out repeatedly to cancel and they do everything to avoid responding. Even the live chat is a joke, just referring you to email them instead of taking care of the issue. They also give you ridiculous support case numbers that are designed to make it impossible to reference your account.
Beware
I don’t think there is enough information about this nutrition plan before you start. This app solely pushes a keto diet, which may work for some but does not work for everyone. There is zero support from a nutrition coaching aspect (good luck trying to get in contact with a human) so you are left to interpret results on your own.
