I love my eight sleep, but I find it incredibly ironic that a company whose mission is to help people get better sleep, requires you to keep your iphone right next to you while you sleep so that you can control the eight sleep. I wish I could leave my iPhone far away from my bed at night to make it easy to not be in a habit of using it before bed, but then I can’t adjust the bed. It seems like it would be easy enough to create a simple accessory that could adjust the temp up and down, literally two buttons. And then anything more complex, you still manage on the phone. It could be another profit center for eight sleep and customers would be happy, win-win. Seems like Eight Sleep must have some sort of below table with instagram to keep us as addicted to our phones as possible

I’m nearing the end of my trial period and will be returning the pod. I can’t say my sleep has improved, but worse than that, I can’t get it to track things accurately. We have 2 sides set up on a king bed. My report will mirror my husband’s. For reference, he’s 5’9” and 155lbs (not so large that he doesn’t fit on half of a king bed). I go to bed an hour later, but it says I went to bed 2 minutes later than he did. It shows I’m asleep an hour before I’m in bed because he was. I get up, but my husband doesn’t? It shows I sleep for 30 minutes after I’m out of bed. That means I’m editing my sleep session and saying when I went to bed and fell asleep (which I don’t know). It also can’t tell when I’m awake in the middle of the night. I have to constantly move my legs so it doesn’t show I was asleep for those hours, which just keeps me awake. I opened a ticket, but I basically just received feedback on how close REM sleep is to being awake. I can understand that, but my bigger issue is that it doesn’t seem to know when I’m in bed and when I’m not. I was optimistic (I have 2 coworkers who have pods and love them), but the issue with my tracking is too much to work around for the price. It’s possible that mine was defective, but I can only guess that it may be. Sadly, I didn’t see any improvements on the duration of my sleep or waking in the middle of the night either.
United StatesWishing for a Apple Watch App or a smarter alarm
The app is great, very insightful. But some of us don’t sleep with our phones next to us (if you really care about sleep quality you know this). So when the alarm goes off on my side I need to hustle to the kitchen to turn it off. I wish there was a feature for the Apple Watch to be able to turn it off from that, or if the pad could sense when I get out of bed, the vibrations stop.

I just want to change temperature settings. When I interact with the app it asks me questions for additional input. This is very annoying because the change I entered will not save until the questions are answered by tapping on the screen. Also, my first eight sleep product was faulty. It took me reminding support for 10 months to get resolution. Eight Sleep sent me $10 accessories as solutions and offered the subscription product with support for cash even though I had a very real product failure. After begging for multiple case reviews and getting an honest engineer to review the logs, it was determined there was indeed a part dependency failure. The product was replaced only after honestly updating my case for almost a year.
