Great Idea; Horrible Execution
If I could give zero stars I would. This company is unapologetically discriminatory and not interested in changing their ways. If you care a disable worker stay away from this app. They do not honor reasonable accommodation and they do not recognize the medical needs of disabled workers. To be clear, I started out on this app praising its name to everyone who would listen. It’s a great idea, but their policies and procedures make working with this company nearly impossible. This is a gig app and as such does not provide a set schedule or full time employment. Therefore a Papa Pal will need to supplement their income in other ways to be able to work with this app. That wouldn’t be problematic if Papa Pals had control over their own schedule, but with Papa they do not. I sat on the phone with Papa for two hours trying to express the need for a Papa Pal to manage and control their own schedule. Papa’s inability to receive constructive criticism and listen to the words coming out of my mouth just cost me my favorite client in a really ugly way. I was told by Papa that Pals have no control of the schedule they are working. That the schedule can only be changed by the Papa Member. And than they penalized me when I experienced a PTSD disability flare up because of their complete and utter shut down of my basic human right to have a say in the schedule I’m working. Papa Pals does not provide reasonable accommodation for disabled workers and does not consider the fact that some Papa Members are disabled and cannot be trusted to have full and total control over the Papa Pal’s schedule, without the Papa Pal’s input. It seems completely unrealistic and unreasonable to me that this company does not allow Papa Pals to manage their own time & schedule as most visits are 2-3 hours in length and nobody can live off that. So you will need other side hustles to survive but Papa wants your member to have full draconian control over the schedule YOU are working without your input. I just lost a beloved client because she thought I was a flake because Papa refuses to honor reasonable accommodation and allow me more control and input over the schedule I am working. So now, in this tiny rural area, my preferred Papa member’s tags will sit in the cue because she doesn’t want to work with me and there is nobody else in the area to work it. All because Papa Pals does not allow the INPUT around the schedule of the person working the schedule. Then they will penalize you when you have a medical emergency come up because of disability and you can’t fulfill the schedule they allowed you no access to. This is unapologetic discrimination against disabled workers who need to be able to manage their time and schedule to balance their medical needs and other work they will need to do to live with the very few hours Papa provides. I have spoken with Papa at length about this and instead of accommodating my need to have input in my OWN schedule they canceled my appointments and didn’t inform me and now my client thinks I’m the reason the appointments were canceled. Reputation is everything in my small town and thanks to Papas I now have upset a client who is very prominent in my community and I was never given an opportunity to tell my side of the story. The damage done by this VERY problematic policy, that Papa refuses to adjust, even for disabled workers, is a complete deal breaker. I am very disappointed in this app and in their customer service. I will be reaping the consequences of their actions for God knows how long all because they are INCAPABLE of seeing why a person would need to have a say in the schedule they are expected to work and will be penalized if anything comes up that prevents them from fulfilling the schedule that they had no say in creating. These are unfair business practices and why the disabled seniors in my area are NOT being served. Don’t waste your time in getting emotionally attached to clients on this app because Papa will unapologetically sabotage that relationship and then leave you holding the blame. Not cool at all!

I have been trying for more than three days to get this interview section of the boarding to work I’ve been told to sign in into Zen desk and report the issue so that it can be resolved, but I’m having difficulty even doing that. I am very frustrated and a little bit saddened because I was really excited about experiencing helping people and now I’m having a difficult time it’s kind of making me feel like this is what I’m going to have to experience when I have a problem during my work I don’t want to have to deal with a lot of technical issues and don’t wanna have to lose money because of technical issues and honestly, this could be something great, but there are a lot of things that need to be worked out so far not so good !!!!

3/5 stars. What makes this company think people are going to go out of their way to help someone in need and only get paid 1 hr of work? 18 for the entire visit, no milage. If you’re hard up for some cash this Is your app. Current requests are only an hour or very far away and not worth the visit, due to lack of pay and mileage, save the gas.

I visit the elderly and help with their household tasks. I’ve been doing this for a couple months and so far I like it. The pay is fair. I make $14 an hour and .56 per mile traveling one way. I’ve met a lot of super nice people and have made a few friends. It’s a good part time job that’s also rewarding. The Papa Pal company itself is well organized, very helpful and pleasant to work with. It’s pretty easy but I do think you have to pass a background check too.

I signed up several weeks ago and haven’t yet received any visits yet . I tried to contact the support and didn’t get anywhere with them. App support is very lenient and in a hurry to hang um 😕
