The COtrip app is the Colorado Department of Transportation's (CDOT) official real-time traffic and traveler information app. The COtrip app provides statewide travel information for Colorado’s interstates, U.S. routes and state highways. It does not include information for county roads or city streets. Features: - Zoomable and mobile-friendly map display - Traffic speeds and road conditions - Real-time updates on road maintenance, construction, restrictions and road closures - Camera images and live streaming video - Trucker mode with resources specific to commercial motor vehicle operators - Winter weather conditions (seasonal) - Plow tracker - Hands-free, eyes-free feature to announce upcoming road conditions that will impact your route Please Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can decrease device battery life. Drop the Distraction The primary responsibility of every driver is the safe operation of their vehicle. While traveling, mobile communication devices should be used only when the motor vehicle is at a complete stop off the traveled portion of the roadway. Do not text and drive (it's against the law) or use this app while driving. For more information about distracted driving in Colorado and safety tips, visit https://distracted.codot.gov. Feedback We welcome your feedback on this app. Please send your suggestions, questions or concerns in an email to [email protected]. For tutorials and more information, visit COtrip.org. No longer displays how long trip will take
I have enjoyed using the app until the most recent update. It no longer displays the estimated time of selected trip, which was one of the best features.
No time stamps
Road closures and camera info without time stamps is worthless. The app doesn’t seem to be updating but you can’t tell for sure because the information isn’t tied to a specific time.
1 star because zero isn't available
Worthless app and data. Don't bother. The August review called 2 levels of terrible nails it
Useful but confusing and ambiguous, difficult to use
This is a useful tool, but a very clunky app to use. Favorites do not seem to work. There is a favorites button present in certain views, but pressing it doesn’t do anything. When I look for a route from Denver to Winter Park, it is currently routing me through Silverthorne and Kremmling. But it shows Berthoud pass is open. This makes no sense because it adds about two hours to my trip. This is obviously a contradictory result. I will generally use this only in conjunction with Google Maps and other sources. CDot warns against using any alternate routing app, but theirs is not ready for prime time.
Map legend
The colors chosen are too close in shade to make the map meaningful. All bland earth tones. No red or yellow or green usually associated with road conditions. An existing closure (I-70) is not even shown as such.
Trucking
The go to app for trucking through Colorado
No capacity on castlerockits
Again the app lets us down. Big storm in Denver, and the host has frozen. Now I know that castlerockits handles more states thsn just Colorado. Weather today is not a nationwide event, and Colorado is not a large population state. Castlerockits should be able to handle this. CDOT, if you read this, find another vendor or bring it in house.
