In contrast to Screen Time, one sec delays access to apps and websites instead of blocking them completely – this is fundamentally different than any other screen time tool you’ve tried before! Have you tried a digital detox? And it did not work, because you fall back into your habits immediately? Well here is the solution: one sec solves our unhealthy phone relationship at its roots: by making distracting apps less appealing, our brains lose interest to open them all the time without proper intention. The effectiveness of one sec has been confirmed in a peer-reviewed scientific study with the Max-Planck Institute and Heidelberg University: app usage drops by 57% on average! Long-term! Fight the social media algorithms and win back control over your phone usage & your subconsciousness! “one sec” uses Shortcuts Automation to toggle a deep breath animation whenever you open one of the configured apps (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube…). This breaks unconcious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these apps. Did you really want to open Instagram? Or was it just because you're bored waiting for your bus? This app helps you to reflect your actions, thoughts, and feelings; disrupting harmful social media habits with mindfulness. On top of that, “one sec” also contributes your mindful moments to the Health App via HealthKit. Especially for people with ADHD one sec is a great tool to gain back control for incredible focus and concentration. Integrations and collabs: - You can set up one sec to sync tasks with Structured, so you won't be able to access social media apps during ongoing unfinished tasks. - You can set up one sec to learn a new language with LENGO, so every time you open social media, you have to answer a handful of vocabularies. Available Subscription Options: one sec pro (annual / monthly / lifetime unlock) Terms (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ Privacy Policy: https://one-sec.app/privacy/
Won’t let me open the apps
I got this thinking it would help me with my screen time but now I can’t even enter the apps I do the exercise and click go to whatever app but all it does is make me do it again I have tried the steps a hundred times but it still doesn’t work
Another greedy subscription app
Such a great concept that is once again blocked by a massive subscription. These days no one can pay for an app with one simple fee; instead, app developers greedily want you to pay them month after month for an app that tells you to take a break from using your phone. I’d be totally willing to pay a one time fee because I hate subscription services. But if you’re not going to pay anything to them, the app is unusable because you’re only blocking one app, which defeats the whole purpose of having multiple target apps. 1 star
Amazing
Just got this app and it is wonderful. I think my brain is going to be able to function properly again and not feel constantly distracted when I’m on my phone. I love how it requires you to be mindful and intentional with your choices on your phone. I think I believed if I just had strong enough willpower, I could conquer my bad habits, but my brain actually needs some additional help to make better choices. I am a full grown adult. I can’t imagine how teenagers and kids are expected to manage themselves well on their devices without help and boundaries. 5 stars for sure! Thank you!
It’s pretty decent.
So far I’m kinda ehh about this app. I feel like it can be quite tricky to set up how you want it and some of it is confusing. Some functions need better descriptions and I wish in the summary it told you how long you were actually on each app that day in addition to how much time was saved. The cost is really great, but I don’t care for all the extras of it. I just prefer something a bit more simple personally.
Slow updates, morning journal broken with no way around
I had my app locked at 6pm today with no sleep recorded. Moronicly am locked out of apps for 20 minutes. Fix this.
Brilliant
This app is brilliant. I have it on all my iOS devices. I feel like most screen time reducing apps come and go, as half baked ideas put together over a weekend. This one is different. It feels as put together, or even more so, than Apple’s own screen time controls. It’s obvious the creator of this app made this for themselves as it applies to users’ real uses very well. I’m someone who uses various ways to make my devices more “dumb” or minimal. I mix this with feed blockers, screen time settings, greyscale, and not having social media apps on my phone. This is a very important piece of my already pretty elaborate puzzle. This app can probably do more than I can grasp right now. I just use it to slow load apps and make them get progressively slower overtime. As my dopamine rush gets slower every time I wait for an app to load, I could just delete this app out of frustration. But I don’t. I feel like a kid knowing maybe it’s best if only mom can open the cookie jar. I also use the app for app blocking which is super cool. My only request is if I could set a timer for app blocking. What I mean: set timer and in 25 minutes all apps on the list will be blocked. That way maybe when I need or want to go down the rabbit hole, there is going to be a hard cutoff upcoming that I can’t stop. Otherwise I’ll just willingly not stop and go down a binge, which I unfortunately too often do.
Stopped blocking websites
Not sure what happened but the app suddenly stopped showing the intervention for websites I’ve added to the blocklist. I’ve tried reinstalling the app and adding the websites back, disabling other Safari extensions, etc to no avail. When this is resolved, I’ll alter this review.
This update fixes an issue where on iOS 16 and earlier the “Closing Automation” and “Start Block Session” Shortcut would not work anymore. This time it’s not my fault, it’s something that Apple has acknowledged in their release notes (including a workaround which I have now applied in this update, see FB13664020)
