Please visit your insulin pump manufacturer's website for specific activation instructions.which device you want to use.

Alarms and glucose readings can only be received on your phone or your FreeStyle Libre 2 Reader (not both). [1]

To receive alarms and glucose readings on your phone, you must start the Sensor with the FreeStyle Libre 2 app.

To receive alarms and glucose readings on your FreeStyle Libre 2 Reader, you must start the Sensor with your Reader.

Note that the FreeStyle Libre 2 app, Reader and your Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) system do not share data with each other.

When not using an AID, for complete information on app or Reader, scan your Sensor every 8 hours with that device; otherwise, your reports will not include all your data. You can only upload and view data from app and reader on LibreView.com.

Frustrated right out of the box

I was so excited to get access to this sensor and start seeing my glucose in real time, and when I put the thing on, connected it to my phone app, first thing I see is "sensor will be ready in one hour". I read through the instruction handout, I followed the instructions in the handout and on the app. Nowhere did it warn me that I would not be able to see for the first hour. Nowhere does it tell me whether blood glucose data is already being accurately collected and I can go forward with my trial of different foods or whether I have to wait another hour to eat my planned test meals. Right out of the box I'm ticked with this app and the handout and the people who made it! update: after my hour, I got going with the device and another problem I have specifically with the app is that it alarms ridiculously when my phone is across the room, which is stupid... it should be smart enough to wait a bit before it fusses about things like that. And it also keeps telling me that the "alarms are unavailable!" with flashy red banner across the top of the app when I am simply using my Bluetooth headphones with another device. My phone has Bluetooth turned on and I have given permission for the app to make the phone noisy and vibrate… So why the bleep doesn't care what my headphones are tuned to? If I want to use my Bluetooth to listen to streamed video on my iPad, the app can still make noise through the phone speakers. I call BUG! One more problem after a few more days of use: I go to write a comment because I am keeping track of everything I eat through the log feature, writing a comment and checking my blood sugar before every bit of food that I eat, and when I click done after entering the comment, it seems like right now two out of three times my comment is not saved and I have to repeat it. This is me entering done at the bottom of the screen next to the left cancel button and the right comment button, not me assuming that clicking done after I've entered the text means that the comment will be saved but at the next step where I have to click done again. I'll call another, because I'm not routinely having problems with my phone not recognizing the accuracy of my button pushes.

Apple Watch app?

This would be extremely useful if this was available on Apple Watch also.

Glitchy — needs an update

The app is so glitchy. The scans aren’t consistent — sometimes it vibrates when the scan is done. Sometimes not. Very often it takes forever for the screen to move from a gray thing to the reading. And sometimes the reading appears while the waiting to scan image is up. There hasn’t been an update in 7 months. It’s time for Abbott to put some of the money they get for these expensive devices toward making the app function properly.

Works. Somewhat

A few issues to point out: 1. Data fails to report low glucose events. I have had numerous readings below 70 yet the Time in Target data show 0% <70. 2. Cannot export actual data; only screen shots. 3. Very slow reading of sensor; long delay holding the phone hear sensor for way too long. Many failed reading attempts. 4. Alarm WAY too loud with no way to suppress (when I leave my phone at my desk to use restroom at work my coworkers get blasted with annoying ‘lost signal’ alarm. 5. Phone battery usage consumed much faster with this app running all the time. 6. 8 hrs of sensor data is all; if you fail to read sensor immediately before sleeping and immediately upon waking up, night time data is lost. This is a function of the sensor; not the app. Otherwise the data is worthwhile though treated by the app as somewhat disposable (historical data gets averaged and turned into imprecise charts. For people like me who are actively using data to improve my lifestyle and scores, having more historical data for past 2-3 months is important.).

Please fix scanning issues

Sensor no longer reading critical data. I’ve done all the trouble shooting. When trying to submit a request online via website it also returns an error. What’s the point of this app with others out there that are manual like alphatrak3? Because that’s what I have to use now anyways.

Not my data or control

Just to let the users know there are better solutions with better customer service. The app does NOT stop going off. For things not even related to my blood sugar. STOP!!! Update. I had called customer service prior to writing the initial review. I explained to them how the app was hiding data. They agreed and told me the app was not that great. And to log into the web site. Ok. So I have to go 2 places to deal with the data. Why do I have the app? So then I write the review below and they message me and tell me to call customer service. How about you just take the customers input seriously and build a better app? How about that.. This app only shows some of the data collected. Libre link up shows more but still not all. That’s so dumb. Where is my data? I want to access and export MY data to analyze elsewhere. It is my data, right? If you don’t give me access who what is mine then why am I wasting time and money on this thing. The alerts are confusing and annoying. JUST SHUT UP ALREADY. MY PHONE DIED. THATS ALL!!

Why the new is worse than the old version

Hi everyone- love what the system does, quick check, tracking, etc. but really hate I now can’t use both reader and phone with same sensor. At night, so so easy to use reader but holding, press on, put near sensor and then see number. I never used phone at night because it took unlocking phone, getting app, opening app… etc. just more steps. Going places, before it was easy with just phone to read it, but now I have to carry both throughout. Running around is easy as I carry reader… but not having option just is horrible. Technology should give options, not reduce them. Alarm is helpful…. But sad I can test and see low and then 2 minutes later the alarm sounds… even though I just tested. Or alarm sounds saying low, and doesn’t tell me number, you have to test.. Will give it till script needs refill and then look at options , and hope this issue is resolved.

Silence all your glucose alarms including urgent low alarm for up to 6 hours [7], [8], [9]

[7] Silent mode allows users to silence their signal loss and glucose alarms, including urgent low glucose alarm for up to six hours. You will not hear your glucose and signal loss alarms even if you've turned on Override Do Not Disturb but may still get the visual and vibratory notifications based on your phone's settings.

[8] Notifications will only be received when alarms are turned on and the sensor is within 20 feet unobstructed of the reading device. You must enable the appropriate settings on your smartphone to receive alarms and alerts, see the FreeStyle Libre 2 User’s Manual for more information.

[9] To get the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm on your phone with the FreeStyle Libre 2 app, you will first need to start your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with your phone. If you do not start your FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor with your phone, you will not get the Urgent Low Glucose Alarm on your phone.
