Now the program is in the palm of your hand! Canceled on us
Put an option on your intake form to ask if the baby is sick and include your policy what diseases you won’t watch AND that you won’t babysit a sick baby!!! Don’t wait for the sitter to come and then walk out the door and yell at the parent for requesting care! Seriously, if you don’t watch sick kids don’t call yourselves backup daycare! I can’t know what your policy is when you don’t put it on your own form!!!
Get a back up for back up care
When Bright Horizon works and you find a nanny for the day it really is a life saver. If both spouses work and you have a nanny it can provide a very reasonable substitute if or when your regular care falls through. Easy/convenient booking via the apps Where it falls down is when your booked nanny cancels day of, which has happened twice thus far over a 12M period. When that happens Bright Horizon’s operations just aren’t equipped to handle the situation. The various nanny services Bright Horizons acts as the middleman for tend not to open or respond before 9AM, after the typical workday starts for their clients. Bright Horizons is available basically 24/7 - but the customer service rep doesn’t really have the tools to solve the problem. This could be remediated if Bright Horizons had more direct nanny employees per city of operation, who they could tap into in these moments, but that isn’t the current reality. A customer service rep is meant to call/update you on progress, but that process also falls down and you’re rarely called to notify you that a nanny could not be found by or during your required care time. So in short, I would advise against relying on Bright Horizons as a consistent backup care option, and instead use it as back up to your back up. I have tried the care center option booking as back up, to the back up, to the back up, but have not been able to get in, the app instead confirmed us for Hoboken New Jersey (we live/work in Manhattan, all of which the app/Bright Horizons should know but the app does not restrict by distance when finding an option).
App & website doesn’t work
Both don’t work unless I am logged into my work computer. Doesn’t let me log into app bc “credentials are wrong” they are not. Tried website login thru website makes me put employer in “employer not found”. Terrible. Lucky for me I can call the back up center and put my child in and then go into work and go thru site. Really need this app to work so I can properly put in the times.
Worst app experience
Unable to make or edit reservations, reported technical issues multiple times, no response from the company. I would not recommend this to anyone.
Badly designed
They need to fire whoever makes the app and website. It’s so bad it hurts. The texts and emails make zero sense. The text is filled with place holder question marks. The emails say to confirm your booking or you’ll lose it but there’s nothing to confirm. The website claims to be an email. And the app shows “Requested” even when your booking is actually confirmed. On top of that, 99% of the time they cancel or tell you they couldn’t find anyone for tomorrow at 10pm after it’s too late to make any other arrangements. And the option to use “out of network” care instead is incomprehensible. Then the service called me to ask if I wanted to babysit. I explained I was the parent, not the sitter. Then they hired the sitter and instead of giving them my name they somehow gave the name of a previous sitter and the name of our pediatrician. We’ve tried booking 10 times and it’s only been successful once. Between technical errors, sudden cancellations, no shows, and just generally not being able to find a provider.
Frustrating
Be prepared to have to back out of your reservation request 20 times because you didn’t do something else again in your profile.
