In five simple steps, you can register for your Iowa mID: 1. Download the app and set permissions 2. Verify access to your phone number 3. Use your device camera to scan the front and back of your driver’s license or ID card 4. Follow the app’s registration steps to take a selfie 5. Set up app security and you’re good to go! Please note: Iowa Mobile ID is an official state-issued ID, serving as a companion to your physical ID. As not all entities are able to verify mID, you should continue to carry your physical ID. Breaks when you get a new phone
Worked great first. Then I got a new phone and have not been able to get it to work ever again. Have tried contacting support, deleting app and redownloading, etc. to no avail.

The first time using this was at the TSA security checkpoint at the Des Moines airport. Doing so delayed the officer clearing me through stating the software has trouble communicating with the database and ultimately required the use of my physical. DL. The digital DL concept will only work when it can be accepted and used via the Apple wallet app.

This app is the reason why government entities should not try to do it themselves to avoid the system Apple put in place. App was clumsy to set up. Got it to work eventually, then when I really needed it, it broke. Lost in an endless error loop that is unreconsilable.
