Barely does the Essentials
Backup - It does Backup your photos and you can erase all or none of the backed up photos at once from your phone. You can not select any photos you would like to keep on your phone. Working with photos on your Synology is clumsy at best.. If you select a bunch of photos to tag them, it is not possible to also rate them.. You need to reselect the photos again and rate them. If one of the photos selected is not finished uploading yet it’s impossible to move any of the selected photos.. Face detection data is not transferable between Personal and Shared Space.. So you need to rename your Faces in the shared space after detection and once again in your personal space. You can not multitask, for example if you are tagging/moving photos you need to wait for this task to finish before you can do anything else, including just looking at photos.. There is only one view to see meta data.. No option to see Star ratings or tags in the main view. Filters are missing exclusion options for example display photos from a date without specific tags is not possible. Search function is not natural language friendly and works only with the exact tags, date format etc.. You can not search for: December 2020 it needs to be 2020-12-01

Stopped backing up photos mid-March. Logged out/logged back in. Doesn’t detect any new photos since then. I will need to manually upload everything since. Lots of negative feedback since update, like deleting all images off my phone if they’re deleted off the NAS and no way to turn this off. I’m uninstalling this app.

I use my iPhone photo settings raw file but the Synology photo backup convert JPEG file. It would be better if I choise back up original raw format. Is it possible or enable next update? Or how can do this.

Only one good feature is backup photo, videos. Face recognition is only 5% effective compared to iOS photos or Google photos app. Worst experience. Useless. No “moments” video suggests. No duplicate file suggest. No text detect search. No rotate suggestions.

Great app overall but this new NAS & iPhotos sync feature should be configurable or completely optional. There are many cases where I have photos on my phone but wouldn’t want them backed up in perpetuity via the NAS (then AWS).

Thanks for keeping up development of this app! I’m giving it 5 stars just for the effort of producing it and allowing this backup option to exist with the Synology ecosystem, but the app does have some issues. I love the new feature of deleting photos off this app also removes them from your iPhone! I personally love that but can see why people want to have the option to choose how that’s handled on their own, so a setting in the app to change this would be awesome! It’s also cool to see the option of default save location is modifiable. Overall, pretty happy with it and the Synology NAS in general though!

1. A local item will be deleted when you delete its copy from the Synology Photos mobile app. However, if you delete the item directly from your phone's built-in app, the copy will still exist on your Synology NAS. 2. Changes to "Free Up Space” feature
