It’s easy with the IKEA Home smart 1 app and TRÅDFRI gateway. Use one setting for early morning lighting and music, another for late evenings and a third for cooking or working at home. You can dim, turn off, turn on, change colours and switch from warm to cold light. Raise or lower blinds. Turn on your music – then turn it up, turn it down or pause it. And you can even control your air purifier to improve the air quality at home. With the IKEA Home smart 1 app, you can also connect to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home and control it all with your voice. Buggy
Scheduled lighting rarely works, heck it rarely works period. Plenty of WiFi coverage just buggy. Frustrating to say the least.
Critical functionality removed
The app has gotten worse over time. They have removed critical functionality like disconnecting and reconnecting gateways or entering the gateway information manually. The app is now stuck in an infinite loop of trying to connect without success.

Having had FYRTUR blinds for a couple years working just fine, the recent-ish firmware update made them problematic to use and requiring intervention every week. The problem: the blinds never go up all the way as they used to. So when they come down every night, they come down a little longer day by day and eventually sit on the window sill. Then they start warping and bunching up. This necessitates battery removal and reboot of each blind. It’s not been an issue but now IKEA broke it with no way to fix.
Loses linked items and touch screen extremely buggy
Why is the touchscreen so buggy? I select one shade and it moves a different one all the time. Pretty ridiculous.
Timers Regression
Setup can be a bit flaky but makes sense once you understand the IKEA way. However, sometime in October 2020 the timer function in this app stopped changing the color/temp for all of my bulbs. They still come on, brighten, and go off as expected on schedule but they’re now stuck on whatever the most recent manual change to cool white, warm white, or warm glow. Calling the Home Smart support line under the "Help” option within the app lead me to a polite conversation with someone who knew less about the products than I did. When she realized that she wouldn’t be able to help me she tried to transfer me to the nearest store location—also unfamiliar with the app or products. This is a technical issue that requires technical support, not outsourced customer service. Edit: Another update, another regression. Still unable to find actual tech support

I have wasted hours of my time on this. Even bought a new one. Works once and never again!!! I should get my money back. What a mistake to trust ikea!
