It's easy to eat too much saturated fat, which increases blood LDL cholesterol, the cause of angina, heart attack, and stroke and circulation disorders. Eating too much saturated fat, which is high in calories, providing 9 calories/gram, is also a cause of obesity, and obesity-related diseases such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, some cancers, and inflammatory diseases. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), 2020–2025 therefore recommend that saturated fat should provide no more than 10% of calories for everyone over 2 years of age. This app will help you achieve this. The app will guide you to set your target daily saturated fat intake based on your chosen calorie intake (or the default based on your age and sex) and the percentage of calorie intake you wish to be provided by saturated fat. Both calorie and saturated fat targets can be changed at any time. Synchronize the app (on the Settings screen) so if you have an app bundle you only need to record your food and beverage intake once and it will be shared with all apps. Record your food and beverage intake using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, by favoriting foods, or by using search function and use the serving sizes provided (mainly those suggested by USDA Food Data Central) or change your serving size. Your progress towards your target daily intake will be visible immediately in real-time. You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and saturated fat intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers. The app’s 328-item curated food and beverage database shows all 212 plant-based foods in green type to help users consume the 30+ different types of plants per week recommended by experts for a healthy gut microbiome. Users can also add their own foods and recipes. Apple's HealthKit functionality is integrated in the app's user interface so you can share your data with Apple's Health app Also useful nutritional information via the Info tab.
Just what I was looking
A lot of skill and knowledge has gone into creating this app. Unfortunately I have severe coronary artery disease and so it’s imperative that I track my saturated fat intake which is quite low. This is a really valuable app for me. It’s well thought out and for anyone that will take a few minutes to review the appand set up the data. It will make their lives easier and healthier. Thank you to the developers. Nothing else like that out there.
Not what I was after
I was trying to increase my saturated fat and reduce my polyunsaturated fat, but this app doesn’t seem to record fats the way I need for this purpose.
Not user friendly and very confusing
Not many foods listed in the data base, and even when adding your own foods, it’s very confusing and unclear. I want to choose my own serving size and not have to figure out the grams based on the apps g/100 g. If there’s a way to do this I sure couldn’t figure it out. When entering foods in the tracker from the list you created of your foods, it’s still difficult and requires a calculator.
Waste of money
The data base hardly has any foods with saturated fats in it making it very hard to list and track the the fat intake. Find another app.
Worst App I’ve ever paid for
Absolute crap - poorly designed, actually impossible to use, not very many foods, ridiculous portions and I question what they are basing the goals on. Mostly it’s just clunky and ugly and wrong and unmanageable/ DONT BUY!
Red exclamation marks are displayed for any day in "Month view" where intake is over 120% of target and average intake per day during each month is now displayed at the top of "Month view" screens in dark orange type. Bug fixes and minor revisions to "How to use the app" instructions.
