"These Science Comics Were Made To Be Read On Smartphone Screens"
- Eva Amsen, Forbes.com

“Reading comics on your phone was a dystopian nightmare of constant pinching and squinting—until Tinyview came along!” said Itchy Feet creator Malachi Ray Rempen. “Getting your panels delivered in a finger-friendly way is probably the best thing to happen to comics since the Sunday funnies in color.”

"Tinyview is creating the future daily comics page that newspapers used to provide,” said Matt Bors. “The phone will be the new comics page and creators applaud Tinyview for enabling that future.”

Tom Tomorrow sent me, anonymously

Creators need to be paid, and when Dan announced in the Patreon email that the strip was moving to Tiny View, I followed and subscribed. It’s a fine little app with a couple of ridiculous vexing choices. First, if you want to have an account and get some sort of benefit, you need to enter a phone number. Nope. We already have a relationship through the App Store. I don’t give my phone number to anyone I don’t believe has a reason and permission to call me. What’s up with that nonsense? Then, if one wants to “follow” a strip, a balloon appears, demanding, “You need to go to Settings and allow Notifications.” No, I don’t. And I won’t, since you demanded it. Perhaps I’d respond differently to an invitation to be made aware when my favorite cartoon has new content for me. That’s different, isn’t it? Perhaps in future versions, they will be more respectful.

Great artists on board, great concept model, app/service needs more features

First off this is a great model for webcomics. The artists get paid, I don’t have to deal with ads, and the subscription costs are reasonable vs something like subbing to a dozen patreons. The app/service really needs a few more features like RSS or email digests (make these premium, I’d pay more for them!). Also an iPad app! Seriously these days why build iPhone only? Glad to see many of my favorite artists and hopefully many more will onboard soon!

5 star content 2 star app

I subscribe for the creators, specifically Fowl Language and Lunarbaboon which are both fantastic. But the app itself needs work and makes it difficult to read the actual comics. - I don't like the comments, I want the comics - hard to swipe between comics - too many taps to read each one - awkward lists that are hard to understand This puts me in a difficult position because I want to support the creators of content, but the app itself is disappointing.

Good comics, bad app

I downloaded the app about 45 minutes ago and it’s crashed on me twice. Also the user interface is clunky and not intuitive. Finally, it should be easier to scroll through previous comics

Sweet lil app

Love it, hope they get enough support to continue to grow the number of artists.

Nice idea, odd implementation

I like the idea of paying for comics, and in fact have subscribed to a rival comic’s subscription service for 20 years. I wanted to branch out a little and try something new, but the app makes it way too hard to read the comics. When they named it “TinyView” I had no idea they meant it literally. I can’t read the comics since the text is too small, but that’s only when you manage to get to a comic. There’s no scrolling view of comics to view, just links to comics, which means there’s lots of tapping and scrolling just to get you to the opportunity to view a comic. The final blow was when it forced me to turn on notifications and then spammed my phone with notifications. In short, other than having good feelings of making a donation I can’t see any utility at all to the app. The subscriber gets nothing out of this deal.
