Not even a MVP
I love greenhouse, but wish they would staff up and invest in the iOS app just a little more. Application review is totally broken — blank screen that just says “Application Review” twice. (I have full admin privileges in our GH account, so this is not a permissions problem.) I’d be fine if there were only a few basic workflows I could do on iOS … even as limited as app review & reviewing scorecards and moving candidates to new stages. Table-stakes stuff. Please consider investing more in the app!
Exactly what we needed
When we were deciding which ATS to purchase we looked at the app as an added benefit. None of the options we saw were great for recruiters but we have found that the greenhouse app does exactly what we need for hiring managers. There’s also an app for campus events that looks good but I haven’t tried it out yet.
Huge Disparity between App and Website
I find this app to lack way too many features in the website. Now, it has become accepted for a mobile app to lack some of the website’s features—but this is too much. I should be able to review applications in the app. Also, consider implementing a document reader (i.e: pdf reader) so I don’t have to download every single resume I review. I am an iOS developer for a major enterprise app, so I know this shouldn’t be difficult to implement. Please tell me you know how to do this, because I could do it in a couple of days.
Lacks most functionality
The app doesn't have most of the functionality, compared to the desktop app. It only shows a list of interviews. No referral links, past interviews, or anything else for that matter. I end up having to use the mobile web app in desktop mode more often that I thought I would when an app is available.
How can this be so bad?
I was on the road and needed to view a past candidate's information and the app will not allow any navigation beyond what is coming up. Zero menu, no ability to go to a main page. I ended up logging in on Safari and then going to Desktop view to get where I needed. This is beyond amateur hour.
Unusable.
If you want to use your phone to move review new candidates in Greenhouse, you’re out of luck. The mobile site only allows you to look at upcoming interviews and scorecards. The app doesn’t allow you to see anything beyond the resume (entirely unhelpful for roles where a portfolio link was submitted) which you have to download to your phone to view. Is the candidate a match? Inappropriate for the role? Doesn’t matter because you can’t reject or move them forward without going to the desktop app. So what’s the point of the mobile app? Seems like you could check in on the status of further in the pipeline candidates, provided all you want to do is see where things are at. This is hugely frustrating and frankly, confusing? It’s 2023 and this company just doesn’t support mobile use for its core functions.
Semi-functional but totally misses the mark
As an ATS, Greenhouse has been far better than the previous systems I’ve used and, overall, the platform is extremely robust. However this makes the app that much more disappointing. While I can see candidates on a job the utility of the app pretty much stops there. Viewing LinkedIn doesn’t seem to work, resumes cannot be viewed natively and have to be downloaded, notes cannot be added, and stages cannot be changed — all of the things that I would have liked to be able to do from an app while looking through applicants. Furthermore, as much as I would have liked to simply give direct feedback, there appears to be nowhere to do so on their website leaving me with nowhere else obvious to provide this feedback except in a review.
