United StatesMaps Altimeter shows your current altitude on top of any app. It automatically detects when any app of your choice is active and shows an elegant overlay with a altimeter. It is also possible to show the altimeter when you connect to a Bluetooth device.

This app uses Accessibility services. This app will only use Accessibility services to detect the current active app, so it can show the overlay with the apps chosen by you in the configuration.
Note: Android Auto is not supported. Unfortunately Google doesn't allow to show an overlay on Android Auto.
PERMISSIONS:
Display system-level alerts
This app will remain active in the background (no battery drainage) and shows an overlay on top the chosen apps when it is active.
Draw over other apps
With this permission Maps Speed Limits can draw the speed limit sign over other apps.
Precise location (GPS and network-based)
Necessary to read the location and speed from the GPS chip in your device.
Works well with all my navigation apps
I really like the floating widget when using Google maps. But it doesn't always work. If I reboot my phone it works fine when I launch Google maps. But then later when I go to use Google maps again and the altimeter widget appears, it just shows zero for altitude. I have to reboot the phone to get it to work again. Not good for a paid app.
Doesn't work most of the time. Only works, sometimes, after I manually open it and reset the settings. Im happy I actually paid money for a non-functional app., that the developers don't fix.
Shuts down periodically, and requires uninstall/reinstall. Edit: it still shuts down, and no response from developer. Edit: Seems to be fine after the update about a week ago. I still like this app because it is unobtrusive when using Google Maps.
This app seems to lockout every other week or so, I suspect when Maps is updated perhaps. This requires an uninstall then a re-install.
