Maybe software isn’t their thing
Thermoworks makes the best thermometers available, but this app is pretty terrible. It has already been pointed out that it doesn’t work in the background, but other times it just doesn’t work at all. The app will just display numbers that have nothing to do with the probes even though the device appears connected. Features needed: Background operation Ability to force a call from the probes Real time temp updates to app Ability to change the names of sensors on app Ability to check network connection or just any troubleshooting tools In the end, if you are buying a thermoworks product for view-ability on your phone, look to another vendor.

The app is basic, clunky and non-intuitive. For example, look at real time temp curves. In order to record, must manually start recording and end recording. Not very ergonomic. No web based temp look up. App only. The pricey probes fail after minimal use. A waste of $$$. Look at others - which perform better and much less.

After getting support to get it to connect, it does show my two thermocouple problems temperature properly. However, it does not operate in the background. If you take a call or listen to music, you will not get alarms. Also, the interface is just not that clear to navigate. For example, why is graphing under each sensor when graphing should apply to all selected sensors?

Does not maintain connection and once communication is lost cannot get to reconnect and update without uninstalling and reinstalling the app...? Makes my $299 purchase of wi-fi enabled unit completely pointless.

I have used mini remote devices to monitor grill temperatures. This is by far the best because it does what is needed to do – reports for temperature and will temperature to my phone. I boosted the Wi-Fi signal to my deck and get accurate readings no matter where I am in the house. I have used Bluetooth and proprietary connections to a variety of devices. This is the only one to provide extended range along with the flexibility of interfacing to my phone.

It is maddening to go thru the set up multiple times with no success. I have connected in the past and all worked but most times the setup fails! This app needs to “remember” a setup & recognize it next time. I have given up trying to remotely monitor as it should. Poor app design.
