Surround Speaker Check is a fun and entertaining utility to help you set up and enjoy Dolby Atmos on your home theater gear! Also works as great way to experience spatial audio on Dolby Atmos-compatible sound bars and headphones! Surround Speaker Check is more than just the world’s most popular AV utility app - it’s now THE best way to experience spatial audio like you’ve never heard before! SURROUND SOUND TESTING - Verify your system is properly decoding Dolby Atmos surround sound audio - Confirm your speakers are properly configured - Hear and evaluate your surround speakers in isolation (including height channels) - Test your subwoofer with Subwoofer Check track - Use the new Manual Speaker Check feature to help troubleshoot and fine-tune your system - Confirm your Apple TV is properly set-up for surround sound playback. DOLBY ATMOS - True Dolby Atmos audio support provides an accurate and complete test environment - Supports up to 7.1.4 speaker layouts SPATIAL AUDIO PLAYGROUND - Download monthly spatial audio demos and experimental content - Enjoy spatial scenes designed to unleash the full potential of your home theater Uses specially-produced Dolby Atmos surround tracks with on-screen 3D graphics Designed by guitarist and immersive audio producer Jeff Perrin as a means to confirm the integrity of various surround systems while producing surround sound music tracks. NOTE: Playback of test content on speakers requires an Apple TV (or similar AirPlay-compatible streaming device) connected to a Dolby Digital-compatible home theater system. Spatial audio support over headphones requires compatible iOS device with Dolby Atmos-compatible AirPods or Dolby Atmos-compatible headphones. When played back over an optical connection or non-Atmos devices, surround content will fold down to Dolby Digital 5.1 or stereo 2.0 format, depending on device capabilities. In all cases, a fast internet connection is highly recommend. *Playback of Dolby Atmos content on non-Apple devices requires that the device supports multichannel audio (ie. Dolby Digital 5.1 or Atmos) over AirPlay 2. Please check your device specifications. Please try out the free included test tracks so as to ensure compatibility with your hardware before making any purchases.
Surround Sound Tuning
I wasn’t pleased with level of test tune created by the developers to test or tune my 7.2 Dolby Surround Sound system for the price of $24.99 per year. This app cost shouldn’t be more $5.99 and it should be a one time purchase not a yearly subscription. I should had stuck with the free edition and not wasting my money upgrading to the Dolby Atmos pro. I was forced to upgrade because I couldn’t test my Subwoofers because that option was removed from the previous purchased version because the developer wants to make money to force you to upgrade. This is not right
Helped With Testing Apple TV
I have an Apple TV 3 hooked up to an old receiver and 5 speaker setup, and am not getting surround sound through various movie streaming sites Airplay’d from my phone. I downloaded this app to my phone and ran the 5.1 check via AirPlay to my Apple TV and got the surround sound output I was looking for. So at least able to confirm my setup will work in principle.
Nice app…but
This is a great straightforward app for testing surround speakers and levels. I use it to collaborate my surround speakers and levels. Would you please consider an app update to test Atmos channels.
Subwoofer Check frequency sweeps exclude subwoofer??
The first 2 of the 4 Subwoofer Check tests do not exercise the subwoofer. Its icon stays gray, and I hear no audio from it. During the third and fourth tests, its icon is blue and I hear audio from it, but only the first 2 tests provide a frequency sweep, which is what was advertised and what I was seeking when I paid for it. Am I missing something?
Great for Testing Spatial Audio
I’m new to using AirPods Pro and the 5.1 Speaker Check was a great way to test Spatial Audio!
Worked in the past, but broken now
The app doesn’t seem to be transmitting Dolby Digital 5.1 as of tvOS 14.4 (18K802). I’ve tried the native tvOS version of this app, screen mirroring, and airplay to the AppleTV. My setup is AppleTV 4K -> Samsung OneConnect box (via HDMI) -> Sonos Amp via HDMI eARC, and I have AppleTV set to Auto Audio Format (as opposed to Change Format with DD5.1, although I have tried that too to no avail). Typically, there’s an option in the Samsung settings to pass through Dolby Digital 5.1 when it senses that signal coming from the input device, and sure enough I get Dolby 5.1 in other apps (e.g. Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max), but not with this app anymore. I know it used to work like a year ago so not sure what has changed.
No Restore Purchases Button??
Really like the app, but I bought the center speaker test then had to reinstall the app, but the app just says to buy the test again, with no button to restore purchases!!! Help!
- Fixed a user interface bug where the Manual Speaker Check graphic would not update properly after a user changed between the 5.1.4 and 7.1.4 speaker layout selections.
