This is ISC's classic "dig" command for performing DNS lookups, ported to iOS. Just type in a domain name, and "dig" will lookup the DNS records for that domain. This version supports most of the options available in the BIND 9.14.2 command line version of "dig". Please send comments and questions to [email protected]
Weird
It feels like a fake BIND ISC DIG, and to make it look real use copy the original terminal format from desktop applications, besides it won’t automatically timeout, no cancel button, can’t even add unconventional ports… For normal DNS checking, it’s okay, more? It can’t.
Please update. BIND 9.14 is EOL.
I find this app to be indispensable, however, it’s in need of an update. Currently based off BIND 9.14, a version that has been EOL since 2020. The current stable builds as of this review (2022-08-27) are 9.16 and 9.18. This would be a 5-star app for me if it were updated.
Pretty good except +timeout doesn’t seem to work
The app seems to work pretty well so long as your DNS servers are working; if your server has on issue, the app won’t timeout, even if you explicitly set the option, it just spins until you force quit the app.
Now based on BIND 9.14.2 release
