Ghostery counts more than 100+ million downloads worldwide. Ghostery for Safari provides safe, fast, and clutter-free browsing for free. The browser extension upgrades your Safari browser and supplies full adblock functionality, stops trackers from accessing your personal data, and annoying cookie consent pop-ups. Ghostery has three main components: * Ad-Blocking - blocks all ads on websites you visit with your Safari browser, including Youtube and Facebook, helping you to focus only on the information important to you. * Anti-Tracking - stops trackers’ ability to collect your personal data, replacing it with random values and anonymizing your identity for data brokers. If you see a need to unblock individual trackers, we developed this option. The reasons are up to you! * Never-Consent - automatically removes intrusive cookie popups and expresses dissent to online tracking. This unequaled feature adds convenience to each website visit and acts like your privacy advocate towards content providers while using Safari. Ghostery delivers the online privacy protection our users have come to know and love while minimising the need for customisation and maintenance. As Ghostery is more than an ad-blocker, it comes with exceptional additional features, not found in any other ad-blocking extension: * Trackers information on any website your visit, informing you about the number of trackers, their type, and the company operating them. * Trackers Preview on search engine result pages - displaying tracker information even before you visit a page. You can safely make the choice to visit it, as Ghostery will stop trackers expecting you on the landing page. * WhoTracks.Me - Owning and operating the largest database of trackers allows Ghostery to update tracker information fast and reliably for all users. * Managing your adblock, antitracking, and cookie popup removal function in one click. Moreover, Ghostery is: * Open source * Supported by thousands of contributors worldwide * Free to use forever Ghostery’s core features are free for everyone. Take your experience to the next level and become a contributor to access extension themes, priority support, and historical statistics. Contributors also help Ghostery fund the development of the Privacy Suite and WhoTracks.Me, the largest database of trackers in the world. Works Great For Me (TMobile, iPhone, Safari)
I read the articles they send and do all the suggestions. Been using Ghostery on various platforms for years. Suggest turning OFF your location services and use only when necessary then turn off and clear cache/memory.
Great and Lightwieght
Available with a click if needed to be disabled, very effective running in the background.
Setup instructions were wrong, but it works
The iPad setup instructions did not work for me, but after I managed to get it where the Ghostery icon appeared on the safari URL bar, I was able to click on that and give it access to all URLs, and then it started working for everything, including YouTube ads.
Why only 3 for a 7-star app?
Probably due to Apple, it can’t be used with FireFox, on any other platform, one of the best available combinations! Dear Apple - If you want to come through anti-trust action alive, allow Ghostiary to be used with all browsers. Safari isn’t the greatest browser in my book - the reason I use Mozilla’s limited products on my iPhone. I wish I could use Real FireFox, with the huge package of security add-ons that work with other Linux-based systems, and, let’s face it, the iOS family is another front page for Linux - rewritten just enough to escape the Linux Copy-Left rules. If you’re not careful, iPhones will be allowed open to every Linux free distro. What can you do? Open up Apple Linux to everything Linux, from graphic-free Linux C and other language programming recommend users who really can’t hack Linux stick to stock - and store programs screened for safety (and REQUIRE programs offered there to cut down on user tracking etc. while allowing a true multitasking system at the cost, of course, to performance. Allow use of open-source Linux apps, warning users they are risking a TIGHTER protection system. Prohibit Store programs from tracking user locations and either selling lifted data or or using it for their own commercial purposes - ok, a high-performance direction system can provide maps, and sell fast food chains placement - but once users pass by, their location data is erased, not maintained. Require that map/travel programs be secret about who is going where.
Scammer
Does not work
will not stop annoying me
I continue to get a pop up that stops what I'm doing over and over and over again, even though I made my choice to allow for one day on a site. SO ANNOYING!
