Rover Horror Stories
Don’t do it. Find a different company to watch your animals. I’m sure some of the sitters are fine but the company itself is horrible. My sitter somehow accidentally changed the code on my lockbox after day 1. She couldn’t get into my apt to feed and take care of my animals - one being handicapped. The company wouldn’t provide or pay for a locksmith - that was up to me. I was in the ER as my dad had a massive brain bleed. I couldn’t just set that up during this emergency. Plus I didn’t know when the sitter could be there to arrange for a locksmith to meet her. Cats were neglected for days before someone could get to them. Read Reddit horror stories and you will see just how awful this company can be. This isn’t an attack on the sitters. The company I worked for when I was a pet sitter would have taken care of this 100% since it was a sitters mistake. Guessing this is what insurance is for. Find a better company, your pets deserve it.
Crispy
We (family) enjoyed taking care of crispy. He is so sweet and always happy. We miss him.
Service fees are too much
This is only my second time writing a review for an app. I’ve been working with rover for 3 years and have good and bad to say about it. I’ve made some great clients that come back often. But per a client I just had I found out that they charge the owner a 10% fee to book. I thought this was absolutely ridiculous considering they charge per sitters 20%. I just had a 2 week booking for two dogs, that’s $700 for two weeks. I only received $560. $140 in rovers fees paid on my behalf and the $70 paid on the owners behalf. That in my opinion is greedy. if you’re going to make pet sitters pay a fee, the owners shouldn’t have to pay a fee too. The support on the app is awful. They also don’t filter out scam accounts. I’ve had people messaging me asking to have s** and others that asked questions like “do you have a boyfriend?” The accounts get reported, and I still receive messages from them.
Just a couple of things
I have really enjoyed using Rover to build my dog business. Rover has been really helpful at building more clients, and the app makes it really easy to schedule and get paid. Something that would be helpful to me, and I think others, is being able to transfer the calendar to a another calendar. Make some way to transfer what’s on Rover to my everyday calendar. There have been times where I have dog schedules outside of Rover, get scheduled around Rover sitting dogs. It would be nice if I could just transfer all my dog sitting jobs to one calendar. Another nice thing, would be a way to get to know other local dog sitters. This way, if I can’t take care of a dog, I can recommend someone. I believe it is another way to show good customer service on our end. I don’t know if there is a way to get a local representative in charge of holding a get together or Rover sponsored dinner, but I was thinking somewhere along those lines. I still love Rover, and am thankful for all the support.
It’s a pushy app but it works
Since I moved to Florida, I’ve used Rover to find three dog walkers. Two were absolute hits. They were amazing. The one that was miss was the first one, the other two I love them. I don’t use anyone but them. I don’t like this app because of how pushy it is though, it’s so pushy. Once I book with the regular Dog Walker it takes me to another screen were it ask “hey do you want to try one of these people out” and so many times I’ve accidentally hit contact sitter button. I am rebooking with my sitter, I am constantly rebooking with my sitter. Why are you showing me this screen? This app is not returning user-friendly. It’s more a once and done kind of friendly app. Had it not constantly been asking me to review them, where I can’t even click out of it, I wouldn’t have made a review. But the app Forced me to click if I loved the app Yes or No, and the only way to get rid of it is to exit and clear the app. It works and it’s good but it’s pushy
Awesome!
Charlie is the best! Treats our boy like his own. Highly recommend!
