First protected in 1864, Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. ##Notes Download the app before you arrive. Cell service and Wi-Fi are extremely limited in Yosemite. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
Day passes required
Might want to update the app that passes for day use are required in late May 2021 due to covid! I think the app hasn’t updated yet with that info, right now the faq says no passes required.
Great info, gps lags
I used the map part of the app more than anything else. It was nice to see where I was on the map, but the gps was sometimes slow to update. If it’s a hardware issue with the gps, perhaps the dot could change from blue to red when my position hasn’t updated in a while. Also, Roosevelt Point is missing from the map! Other things were missing too. It was mostly good though, and I like the ability to download the entire map so I didn’t have to depend on a cell tower. Overall, very helpful!
Can’t download the map
I have tried to download the map, which I need to navigate Yosemite without cell service, several times. It will load to 72.8% and then give an error message. The rest of the app looks good, but I got it specifically for the map.
Love it!
This app has so much information and I totally recommend it. I love how it lets you tap on the map and see what locations and sites there are.
Terrible App
Map doesn’t show valley trails, which is the most important info a visitor needs. Locations not identified, just cartoon map. Doesn’t have the same info their PAPER map has. Too many clicks to get any usable info. This was designed and implemented by idiots. The Govt should get refund from the developers. Whoever in the Government who supervised this development should be demoted. Suggest just include a full res pdf copy of the paper map.
Fall2019
Used this app in the fall of 2019. Very useful. Especially with no internet. Would be helpful if road were identified with arrows if one way. Also is stops included elevation.
Offline Map and location tracking is amazing
Have only had it a few hours and it was amazing for navigating the park after sunset. Just wish you could apply more than one map filter simultaneously.
