LNER only ticket
Boggles my mind how I can buy an LNER only ticket on the CrossCountry App.
Easy breezy!
As if being American isn’t challenging enough, I’m from Southern California and the only train experience is the monorail at Disney Land. This app made it so easy to navigate from airport to Winchester and then Bournemouth. Then back to St. Pancras for the train to Paris
Buggy app can lead to multiple transactions without refunds!
Use with caution and always check your email after a “failed” purchase attempt. I used this app successfully in the past multiple times. Recently, the app has been glitching and crashing mid purchase. I wound up with 5 sets of tickets once the dust settled at my last purchase. I only needed 1. The app crashed repeatedly as the payment was being processed and said I had no tickets booked. I did all of the troubleshooting I could. I updated the app, I reloaded the app, I power cycled my device. Nothing worked. Then I checked my email and I had 5 completed purchase messages, all for the same train. I confirmed the charges were pending with my bank and looked up Cross Country support. Cross Country only offers support on their Twitter. The rep on Twitter assured me the app performance issue was identified and that I would get a full refund if I called their support team. The number he gave me got me through to someone with a condescending and less than helpful attitude. I wanted to cancel the whole mess and get my tickets elsewhere. The phone support rep kept putting me on hold to get approval for my refunds. It was excessive and frustrating. The experience between my Twitter chat interaction and my support phone call could not have been more different. Train your phone support staff, Cross Country! In the end I was granted refunds for 4 of the 5 sets of tickets. I was not pleased at all. I will NEVER use this service again.
Why?
Until last month, it was possible to buy tix thru Cross Country, pop them into Apple Wallet, and go. Now this app itself is an extra step, with an additional extra step of activating tickets on the day. First world problems and all, but why make more hassle for your customers?
We've listened to your feedback and have included a range of bug fixes and small feature improvements to make your overall experience smoother.
