Don’t Bother Unless You’re Willing to Pay
When looking at an app you have to compare it to competitors. In this case, Catholic Match is well below the likes of Hinge, Bumble, Tinder, and others. If you use the free version you can’t see who likes you, you have to wait nine days to see messages, and finding matches is almost non-existent. All the other apps’ free versions are much more robust, only Catholic Match is so restrictive.

It’s great that this app exists to filter for Catholics. It’s also nice that when you’re searching for people on the app, you can have the comfort knowing most if not all value religion/faith. However the chatting feature is insane. Chatting to a person should be a basic feature even with a non-premium account. The app makes you wait 9 days before being able to see a message… You can pay to “see” the message right away, but that’s crazy. Again, chatting should be a basic feature 😭. I get the app needs to make money somehow, but maybe consider ads. Also for a “premium” account, maybe set certain preferences as premium preferences, have a “see all likes” feature, have a “see all messages” feature, allow unlimited messages sent per day, etc. For a basic account, allow the option of at least viewing 5 messages per day lol. Really curious about the reasoning behind the decision to make it this way.

Immediately I paid $29.99 for a month subscription, they blocked my account and no way to refund. This app is a scam app they will block your account after you subscribe.. Be warned !!! And stay out

Without this, if someone messages you, you cannot reply for 9 days; also, you are completely unable to send any initial messages without a laid subscription. With most dating apps, paid subscription is for things like “unlimited likes”, the ability to message before “matching”, unlimited “boosts” (where your profile is at or near the top during what they deem to be “peak hours” of usage on the app), and other similar things. To be unable to send a message, let alone reply to one before 9 days, is absolutely ridiculous. I’ve edited this to say that the staff of Catholic Match edit your profile if you include a note in your bio that you’re not a paid subscriber, so that anyone who messages you doesn’t think that you’re blowing them off, since you have to wait NINE DAYS to not reply, but even to see the message. It’s not only a horrible app, it’s a horrible company, run by people whom I can only assume are horrible (I base the latter on my correspondence with them, regarding their editing my profile; absolutely horrible)

Updated: I ended up deleting my account. (Wasted money.) I had someone who liked my photo but their picture does not match what their profile says. I also messaged six different people and not one answer. I truly believe they are all inactive accounts. I have had my account for over a week and I have only had maybe four matches and again no one near me. I love the idea of this app but they definitely need to maintain it better especially if they are going to charge. I’m so far not liking the app. (Have not tried logging onto the actual site yet.) My church was promoting the site, so I thought I give it a try. However, I find it a little uncomfortable that you put in a certain filter of age and area you are looking in, yet your profile is out there for everyone to see. I had someone over 30 years older than me like my profile from a complete other state. I also don’t like the fact that random photos from peoples profile are just displayed for anyone to see. I was going to add more pictures to my profile but If it’s for everyone to see, even the ones out of preferred age group and area I won’t. I already paid for a month because I wanted to give it an honest try but I really don’t have high hopes for it. I have had only two matches so far, which again is strange to me for how many people show to be on here. I have “liked” a few guys profiles so far yet I’m not 100% sure if they are even still on here. I also notice my profile picture with sunglasses on was denied, even though I have seen so many men with sunglasses on in their profile picture. I have also noticed one profile that showed “never been married” yet in every picture he had a wedding ring on. Again, I was really looking forward to giving this app a try. And who knows, maybe something will work out but for now my hope is limited.
