It asks for full name, email, date of birth, and address. It says it won’t share data, but that’s what everyone app says. Even if data is not shared, it’s vulnerable to theft. The GPS functionality, to use in place of providing address, did not work. (I tried multiple times.

Lost track of the many functions that are broken: notifications unreliable, settings don’t stick, slow to update with new posts, logs out user randomly, requires multiple attempts to successfully re-log in. Still it provides a valuable resource and promotes admirable values. Wish they would squash the bugs.

Pros: the app helps me connect to my community and exchange things with people so nothing goes to waste. Cons: the app is very buggy. The developers keep adding features without improving reliability of the core functions. I want the basic features to work well without having to wait 30+ seconds and/or restart the app: loading my inbox, sending and receiving messages, scrolling through posts, checking the comments on a post.

The community and sharing items is great. The app is what bogs down the experience. If it’s not the janky messaging system, it’s the ultra slow feed or the sign in system that signs me out intermittently and randomly forgets my password to boot. I *really* hope the devs aren’t letting feature creep take over, and are only fixing the noted issues in the app. Otherwise, a decent opportunity to save a buck and meet your neighbors while you’re at it is found in BN.

I love BuyNothing and the entire idea behind it. I’ve found some great stuff and I’ve been able to give away things to people who are always appreciative. However, the app itself does not work well. It logs me out constantly and does not give me notification while I’m logged out. Whenever I give a gift I have to be constantly checking the app to make sure I don’t make someone wait outside for 30 minutes. I’ve also had it log me out and not let me back in for an extended period of time. If the issue of being logged out could be fixed, I would use this app more often. It’s just too inconvenient to be on it all the time to make sure it’s working.
