Generally good, dark mode?
I love that Paper is more structured and formalized than something that’s more like a traditional word processor. The mobile app is capable, but a bit buggy and could really benefit from a dark mode. If there is one, I can’t figure out how to activate it. The main Dropbox app is in dark mode, but paper is not. It also lists duplicates of the paper docs in my Dropbox which is a bit weird. But as far as editing goes, it works.
I love Paper for all the things it doesn’t do.
I’ve been using Paper for a long time and I love that it does a few things really well and then just gets out of my way. I love offline mode and syncing, it is great for writing in a park, on a plane, or anywhere else without service. I wish there was 1:1 feature parity between the browser and apps, and I hate the way it tries to organize my files, but otherwise I have few complaints. A solid 4/5 stars.
I love paper! So elegant and useful
My go to app for jotting down ideas
Simplicity with Great Features
I really love both the simplicity and extensive feature set of this app. It hits a sweet spot for me and so I have mostly good things to say about it. They seem to have fixed most of the bugs that really annoyed me, so that’s nice. The one bug that remains, for me, is that when you go to edit a document, no matter where you are in the doc, it scrolls all the way up to the top and then you have to scroll all the way down, again.
Terrible mobile experience
I’m a big fan of Dropbox paper on desktop, but the app is truly awful. Editing tables is impossible, and if you use it across more than one account switching between them is painfully slow.
New design
They introduced a new UI design a while back on desktop. I am not sure why, it didn’t make anything function better, it just made it look worse. I used to use this app heavily, now I moved on. Can’t trust their updated and design decisions.
Just make it work and it will be 5 stars.
I love this app because it isn’t just a Google docs clone. It has a simple interface that works well. Or - should work well. There are some bizarre issues with this app that I’m surprised about. It works fine on the web, but this app isn’t very good. The app freezes sometimes when you return from another app, requiring a force-quit. Sometimes it just hangs for no reason. And when I tried to create a to-do today, the app said “try later or contact support.” I am certain that support would not be able to fix this issue. Hoping the devs read feedback and make improvements, because the idea and design of this app is great.
The text formatting bar now lets you highlight text, and create quotes and code blocks. On iPad, you can now create sketches and drop them into your docs.
