Promising app with lots of customization but it falls short

I got this app to manage my multiple emails. At first, it looks very promising. It has lots of functions to organize my email including color coding and the ability to create personal folders for saved emails. While it always opens in the All Mail box, I can easily see my different emails in the side menu and I was able to assign each a color. It has a 10 second delay countdown on sending so you have a chance to undo the send. However, some popular functions fall short. For one, sending an email, one of the most basic functions, is not obvious. When I write an email, whether it’s a new one or a reply, there is no Send button. Instead, there are 3 little dots in the top right corner. You would assume that this is some kind of pop up menu but it’s actually the Send button. My first email, I accidentally sent it half written because I assumed that the 3 little dots was a menu for formatting or to add CC or BC, etc. The toolbar for dealing with individual emails floats at the bottom of the screen so you can use it without having to scroll to the bottom of a long email. However, the buttons are close together. I accidentally clicked the button that looks like a little inbox with an arrow, instead of the Reply button which is right next to it. That button is a mystery that my email disappeared into. I thought it was the Archive button but my email wasn’t in the archive folder. It took me 5 minutes to find it by finally clicking the All Mail in the side menu. I was able to move it back to my inbox but I still have no idea where it was moved to, there’s no way to see it’s location as far as I can tell. Meanwhile, I found emails in folders/categories that I did not put there. For example, I rarely use the Important marker, however when I clicked on the Important folder to see if that’s where my email mysteriously went, I found a bunch of emails that I never marked as Important. The side menu is a mixed bag. I can easily see each of my email addresses at the top of the menu so I can easily switch between them which is my preference rather than using the All Mail inbox which is the default. However, while the Inboxes and other folders and the individual emails have a white background, this side menu is black, making some of the color-coding difficult to see. I’ve tried changing it but I can’t. Also in this side menu, Below the email addresses at the top are sections for each email and it’s respective folders. This gets very confusing and is very cluttered. At the top is each email address, color-coded in the color I chose and clicking one takes me directly to that Inbox which is perfect. Below that section is the To Do, Reminder, etc. None of which I use and I can’t remove them or move them to the bottom. Then there is a section including Contacts, Conversations, and Today. Again, I don’t use these and can’t remove them or move them. Finally, there is the Labels section with each email address and a pull down menu for the Labels. This is the section I would prefer near the top, just below the color-coded email Inboxes. However, these email addresses are all white not the colors I assigned. The pull down menu has the standard Sent, Trash, Drafts, as well as the labeled, color-coded, folders I created. Then there are folders labeled [Gmail] that match the color of my email but they are empty and there is only a few not one for each email. Again, I can’t get rid of the ones I didn’t create and don’t use. Finally, there’s a pull down labeled Other that seems to have everything, duplicates of all my labeled folders and lots of the other categories. Some have blue push pins while others have push pins that are just an outline. I believe the blue ones where ones I selected that I thought would be useful when I initially set up Airmail. However, rather than these being grouped together below my folders, they are mixed together with some of the ones that are just an outlined push pin. Again, I can’t seem to rearrange or delete the ones I don’t use. Finally, while Airmail seemed to work fine when I first got it. I’ve noticed in the last several weeks that it closes itself more and more often when I click on something. In the last several days, it seems to occur every time I open it, sometimes multiple times while I’m trying to do things. For example, I open the app, open the side menu and select one of my inboxes from the top of the screen. I can delete a few unwanted emails but if I try to select an email further down the list, the app closes. Or if I try to switch to a different inbox, it closes. Sometimes, while composing an email, if I try to move my cursor to a different position, for example, to add a sentence to a previous paragraph, the app closes. It has started to get really annoying and is making me consider looking for a new email app.

Paid 9.99 for several years, now they want 29.99…no way.

Every email client has issues, but off the ones which allow imap to personal email accounts and not just gmail, this one seemed the best of what’s out there. They update somewhat regularly, squashing bugs and whatnot. Now for the same email client I need to pay $29.99, and that’s without AI compose features which I don’t even want. I’m okay paying a subscription, devs gotta eat. But 30/year is far too steep for a general email client. Anyone found a comparable one for cheaper?

Great app, but….

I thought I saw a way before to turn off the undo timer but I can’t find it now. The undo send to trash is in an annoying location. If you delete a message you have to wait on the stupid undo message to go away before you can see the delete button to do the next message. The undo option is pointless and more nuisance than helpful. If I want to undo it’s easy enough to just go to trash and move it back to inbox if needed.

Buggy and spammy

Please stop spamming me every time I open the app to upgrade I’ve already tried the paid service and it’s too buggy and unreliable so not interested. If you are claiming it’s a free app then stop spamming me to pay. Also with the latest update the app now crashes every time I open it and I have to reopen….super annoying. The development team needs to take a step back and fix the bugs before they’ll get another dime from me…

Lucky it is the only choice

I would move to another mail client in an instant if I had another choice. I find this app buggy, it hangs at least 3-4 times per day. Sometimes it closes on its own.

Issues with inbox

Hey. Love the app but recently whenever I view my email in the preview pane there is a 2-3 sec delay for the trash can. Really slows down my being able to sift junk. How can I turn it off or change the animation duration? Seems like a bug. Open Pane > Remove from Trash option appears > 2” later the regular icons appear (including trash can).
