Black and white??
I feel like I must be missing something....how do you scan black and white film??? Is there someplace to change it from color to black and white? If so I keep missing it
Used to be perfect, but...
This app used to be my go-to for inverting the colors of pictures I took of my film negatives with my DSLR. Even though the colors used to have a slight red tinge to them that might have been user error but that’s besides the point as it was always workable. Now though, the images seem to export in a much lower resolution to the point the exported images are hardly usable. If the developer is able to fix this I will gladly revoke this review as there are very few free alternatives for this type of thing. The way I’ve been using since this app has begun this issue has been a royal pain.
What am I doing wrong?
Other reviewers seem impressed with the results. I put negatives on a pure white screen on my iPad and shoot them with the app on my iPhone. The resulting images look like low res garbage. Is there a step I’m missing? Something I’m not doing correctly? So far… bleah. I really want to like it.
Low quality image; not worth it
Nothing like having a normal print made of your negative. Sorry.
It’s ok at best.
I appreciate the tool for existing first and foremost, hence 5 stars. The FilmLab app is great, very limited, but it scans my negatives fantastically. The only issues, I can’t import photos to invert, so I downloaded this app that I’m reviewing, so I could invert scans that I transferred from my camera to my phone via WiFi transfer in the hopes of a higher quality scan. So far the 5 negatives I’ve imported are a deep Cyan color and no matter how much I play with the sliders, it does no good. The options and functions of the slide editors need improvement, the built in inverting format needs tweaking. The usability of the app itself is great. Very simple. If only the actual color science was good, this would be my favorite app ever.
Can’t save!
I got this and am bummed out because I can’t save any of the images! I have iPad with iOS 13. I hit save and it blinks out of the app, no pics saved. Boooo
Best!!
Just like me if you found some Photo Negatives at home and decided to use your iPhone which photos are in there, then this app can help. I tried using multiple apps over the AppStore and many good ones required paid membership and still their quality was poor. This app is great considering the fact that it is free. For background source, I am using another iPhone. Open up a picture with completely white background. Put the negative on the screen and take pic with this app. Then convert to see the magic. Best wishes.
