I was searching for a way to save old negatives from my parents and relatives and this works beautifully! I had to get a light tablet because the free online one offered in the App was not secure. I also use my own tweezers to hold the negative and by balancing my hand on the light tablet, I am able to operate the phone with my left hand. For anyone not as steady, I recommend getting the phone holder advertised. I am sharing all these photos now that I thought were lost. Most of the negatives are from 1945-1950’s! Thank you, Photomyne!!

I was initially impressed with how well the app scans in most negatives HOWEVER I am SO unimpressed with the reliability of 1) the scans actually saving, and 2) them actually showing up in FilmBox so I can download them. I’m afraid to scan in more than 10 negatives without checking to see if they’re going to save and then be downloadable. I have had to rescan over 50% of the negatives and some of them I’ve had to rescan more than once. It’s a very frustrating process. It might be okay if you didn’t have a lot of negative to do, but if you do, at this point I couldn’t recommend you use this app.
United StatesAutomatic cropping is terrible
We found a treasure of family negatives - relatives that died long before we were born. We found this app and it’s amazing - except the auto crop feature is bizarre. Every single time it crops out all the faces - all you get is an elbow or a belt buckle. You can go recrop manually but what a waste of time. Why have this feature at all? I know how to crop photos - leave it to me to decide what to keep and what to cut. The AI does a terrible job.

This app does not allow the user to invert an existing image. It might be useful if you have the physical negative, but what I have are digital images of old photos that include some negatives. It seems like they have gone to a lot of trouble to prevent more flexible use of the app.
