It is a wonderful alternative, as the title says. It has worked magnificently on my M1 Macbook Air. One time fee. No subscription necessary, unlike Adobe products.

i have actually never reviewed an app, but this one really deserves it. I was a light Photoshop user, perhaps 4 times a month but when i did use it i needed all the features. tired of paying monthly fee. Switched to Affinity, saved me money and time with the special little touches and thoughtful features MISSING in Photoshop. Wow! competition in the marketplace is a good thing

love this app. as a photoshop user for 20 years this got rid of my need for their ongoing and getting more expensive subscription once and for all (thank you). 1 suggestion though... Can we get some support on disabling fonts? a standard font on mac's is the "noto" font and you can't remove or disable it within the mac system. Within Affinity Photo its shows over 100 versions of this font ... the abiltity to disable standard system fonts (we never use and dont need) like this within the app would be huge. Cheers!

I started using Affinity Photo when it first came out and it was an absolute Photoshop killer. Not only was there near feature parity, but in some cases (e.g. Affinity's "Blend-if" equivalent) Affinity's capabilites outstripped Photoshop. At this point, though, Photoshop has continued to be developed, and competitors like Pixelmator Pro and Luminar Neo have done a stunning job with AI features (background removal, smart selections, bokeh) while the Affinity suite has remained static for several years now. I still use Affinity for most things, but I'm increasingly looking to other apps to augment my workflow.

This program has become untenable since the transition to apple silicon. It's slow to start and freezes up with the most basic of tasks. Used to be perfect. Now it's basically useless. Better off with the iPad version.

I don't know if this company is sitll in business or not. For about three years, Affinity Photo has taken about a full minute to launch. Even on brand new out of the box M1 hardware, this application takes longer to load than any other program I have ever used on MacOS X. It used to be THE BEST alternative to PS but now it doesn't even run well on moden computers. It's very dissapointing that they've just stopped development ignoring so many bugs. I'd suggest Apple remove it from the App Store until they get back in business.

Each one of the affinity apps is incredible on its own but when you start to use them all together it's magic. The workflow is seamless and allows independent creators like myself to make professional and beautiful work with minimal friction. Add in their serious commmintment to first class iPad apps to the mix and it's staggering. Adobe might have an early lead and a few niche features still missing from Affinitty but for 99% of use cases this is a superior product. It's a bit of an upfront investment but you actually own the software. What a novel concept! There's a bit of a learning curve but overall these apps continue to delight once you realize the cleverness of the UI design. These are tools for artists and creators made by artists and creators. Well done. A million stars.
