Shape is a polyphonic synthesiser allowing the user to draw the shape of the oscillator waveform. The first half of the oscillator is represented by 32 blocks and the second half is its mirror, generating all sorts of possible raw retroish sounds. 16 pages per oscillator allows to interpolate between different shapes. Add effects like arpeggio, stereo delay and a resonant filter and record your sounds on a classic tape. Modulate any parameter with keyboard, MIDI MPE or the device accelerometer. Connect to other apps with AudioBus, IAA, AUv3 and midi. +++ 16 voice polyphony +++ 2 oscillators, draw your own shape +++ 3 oscillator mixing functions (add, subtract or multiply) +++ Lfo modulation with ADSR: envelope, pitch, duty cycle, square, page or filter +++ Record on tape with infinite overdubs (save, load, import, export) +++ Arpeggiator +++ Stereo delay +++ Resonant filter (low, band and high pass) +++ Modulate any parameter using keyboard, MIDI MPE or accelerometer (Built in or Sphero) +++ Mini linear sequencer with euclidean rhythm +++ On screen 25 key stylophone style keyboard +++ AudioBus, Inter App Audio and AUv3 +++ Ableton link or AUv3 host sync +++ CoreMIDI, IAA MIDI, Bluetooth MIDI, limited MPE and MIDI out +++ Audio Paste, files app drag’n drop or open with
Disappointed
Was expecting to get evolving SoundScapes. Instead, all the app seems to produce is variations on a theme.
The last update turned it into a better app
Great app. One feature that I’d love if it could be implemented is ability to copy shapes and setting between two HFO’s. Often times it’s very useful to start with the same waves in both and them just slightly tweak one of them, change the phase, envelope. Right now everything has to be copied by hand. Another useful feature would be a separate volume/gain control of the tape recorder. I still wish the TAPE had both user definable loop end AND loop start points. Also, why does recording stop at the end of the loop when overdubbing? There should be an option for it to record continuously.
Nice Update and now AU!
Glad to see this go AU. Get all of this devs apps. They are excellent! UPDATE 11/2018: The controls are somewhat cryptic but once you know what they do (as the on-screen hints indicate) you will find these are very cool apps. This update makes this much more fun. Nice crazy sounds. Get it!
Erik The Great does it again!
First class updates to a first class app from a first class developer. Get them all! What are you waiting for?
Snap Crackle Pop
Absolutely love the concept here, but I'm getting all sorts of crackling static sounds when playing any note. Tried closing all other apps and it still crackles. I'm using an iPhone 6s. Can you fix it Erik?
Unique
I love Erik Sigth a.k.a. Humbletunes' apps. Imaginative, inexpensive, innovative and like nothing else on iOS. Buy them all.
Allows you to create some rich sounds.
This update makes it a lot of fun to experiment and make sounds that are extremely good for such a low priced synth. Very cool interface.
+++ Exposing user presets to AUv3 host. +++ Minor UI fixes.
