**You must own a Synology NAS to run this app, and be running the Audio Station 6.5.0 package to get the complete set of features** DS audio allows you to stream music stored on your DiskStation with an iPhone/iPad wherever an Internet connection is available. Better yet, with the offline mode you can listen to songs stored in the device’s local memory for when no network connection is available. You can browse music by albums, artists, folders or genres, create your own playlists or share them with your friends, and even rate your music! And if you have dedicated stereo speakers at home, DS audio can also become a remote control to stream music to them. Find all detailed features about the app on our website: www.synology.com > NAS > DSM 7.1 > Apps > Mobile Apps > Software Specs https://www.synology.com/en-global/dsm/7.1/software_spec/video_station#affiliated_utility__ds_video_mobile__feature
Does the job, needs dark mode
Does what is expected, would be great if there was a dark them for night use.
Disappointing
Missing features important to me, like gapless playback, scrubbing for AAC and Apple Lossless files (works only for mp3) and alphabetical tabs for navigating playlists. It would also be nice to be able to get detailed file info (format, bit depth, sample rate, etc). I requested these long ago, and the requests have been ignored; I guess not enough users want them, or Synology just doesn’t care. As of April, 2024 audio playback does not work if you sign in using HTTPS and you have "modern compatibility" selected in SSL/TLS settings. You either have to switch to HTTP or change the compatibility back to intermediate, both of which are less secure. I like the GUI of DS Audio, and no other app that I'm aware of has a similar layout. Otherwise, I'd switch immediately. Please, Synology, fix DS audio.
pretty reliable, apple car play compatible
I have no complaints with this app. I moved my music collection to synology NAS and the previous music app (cloud beats) on my iphone didn’t connect easily. This one connected in a second and Inhad no issues ever since. It’s fast, shows all my thumbnails, keeps only the music on the phone that I want, the rest stays on the NAS. It works with Apple car play.
Can't play ONE song
I go to an album and pick ONE song... "16 songs added to your queue"... No. I would've added the album if I wanted it. I picked ONE song. Add ONE song to my NOW PLAYING.

Carplay needs work
Says I have to sign in. Sign in in app. Have to disconnect from Carplay then reconnect. No way to pick songs, I can only pick albums.
Won’t work with Apple CarPlay-compatible without logging in
This was my go-to player until I had a vehicle with Apple CarPlay. App shows up as CarPlay-compatible, and it sorta is, but only if you are logged into your server, even if you have downloaded music to the phone.
1. Updated to be compatible with Advanced Media Extensions 3.0. 2. Support for AAC encoded audio is widespread across end devices like smartphones, tablets, computers, and the majority of other media playback devices. The need for AAC transcoding to achieve better compatibility has significantly diminished and will be removed starting with DSM 7.1.1. Starting from DSM 7.1.1, AAC decoding is performed by the end device. - Streaming AAC encoded files over AirPlay is no longer supported. - Playback of AAC files via Chromecast is no longer supported. - Playback of M4A (recordings made on iPhones) is no longer supported. - Removed options for transcoding AAC files.
