A truly bug ridden and flakey App (and web site)
MyUPMC is one of the the flakiest apps that I’ve ever encountered. Because of the preregistration flows it can take days to preregister. Even after preregistration has been completed, you’ll still be asked to preregister. This goes on even after you do the final preregistration at the check in window. It’s worth noting that most all of the bugs are also present in the web site. Sadly, the scariest bug is that while you’re driving to the appointment, fully preregistered, you’ll still receive a constant stream of SMS text messages to preregister even as you’re driving. I’ve often wondered how many people have had accidents on the way to UPMC appointments because of the stream of text messages Also the app and/or the web site wants you to update your medical cards constantly but does not save them reliably. Even after you’re fully and successfully preregistered it will continue to ask you to add cards. In general UPMC struggles to implement technology. On physical visits UPMC has been trying to use my thumb print for about five years and it still has never once worked. I put up with all of these things because the doctors are good, but it’s still very annoying. One BIG problem is that video meetings through the app do not work. I have spent 3 days with UPMC on troubleshooting and it absolutely does not work. However, they do have a working solution called Doximity, but you have to know about it and remind them to use that. I am a software architect and it’s painful to think of such sloppy work.

Invaluable information
This app is invaluable in monitoring my test results and in communicating with my physician.
It’s the little things
Managing your health is just a part of life. We all get older which usually means doctor’s visits and monitoring your health is even more important. It isn’t until you have to do the little things like reviewing your test results, scheduling appointments, requesting prescription refills , paying your bill or asking your doc a question that you appreciate an application like the MyUPMC app or the website and it’s ease of use . I can honestly say it’s become a staple in my life and I’ll even go as far as saying it almost seems to encourage me to stay on top of things health wise. Oh and the convenience of virtual doctor’s office visits are a huge plus!

Dr Moubarak and office workers,
Everyone was so nice and efficient! Check in was quick, only waited about 5 minutes and Dr Moubarak was there to check me.
