I’m the beta test again.

During the last major update, all of my order setsthat had to be fixed because of the forbidden ascii codes debacle. I fixed them with great effort and time. I used the recommended procedures. To my surprise, they are broken again. The browser app at least turns the bullet point characters that were OK in late version 11 to random ascii codes. This app just does not function and I can’t use the order set. Second, normal abbreviations like ml are ok the browser based version 12 but not on this app. No matter how many times I reenter the appropriate abbreviation. It will not accept it. Do I need to change all customized medication? This nightmare made me run two hours later today. Ongoing eastere eggs of dysfunction. Wow

Please let us go back to previous version

We are a high-volume general pediatric office, and we loved the previous version 3.9. Most of our nurses, and about half of our providers were using it, in particular the higher volume providers. We thought the user interface was clean, the clicks to perform tasks was minimized, the response speed was quick, and it was overall a much better experience than the browser version, for clinical encounters. With version 4, it seems they are trying to make it look and operate closer to the browser version, which is not a good thing. They’ve moved the jellybeans to the side, but done away with the buttons that took you directly to different parts of the chart. And they’ve added an insane amount of clicks to each task. Just one example, if you have several labs to review, it’s now SIX clicks, per lab, to review each one, I’m not kidding. And not even six fast clicks, there are slow refresh pauses after each click. And anything you input into a chart, you can’t just go to the next section, you have to go back to the main note. But the biggest problem, is the overall slowness. With any click, you get an awkward pause with a spinning “loading” icon, no matter how minimal the input is. Most of the nurses are now writing down vitals, and then going back to a computer, because of how much it slows them down. Most of our providers have also switch to carrying laptops instead of the iPad app. And again, I can’t understate how many clicks have now been added to almost any task, whether it be entering vitals, prescribing, viewing growth charts, or looking up old visits. We thought version 3.9 was such a finely tuned tool to seeing patients, it’s painful that they abandoned it for such a huge step backwards. We met with eCW last week, both to demonstrate how much of a downgrade version 4 is, and asking if they could move us back to version 3.9. Short version is they cannot bring us back to 3.9. They do seem receptive to some cosmetic improvements, some of which got released just this week (such as a sliding bar on the right side similar to but much less effective than the pervious left side chart tabs). But the overall slowness of each screen having to load each time, and the amount of clicks that have been added to each task, are painful. With 3.9, my workflow was to finish each chart, as I finished seeing each patient, move on to the next room, and then I was immediately done at the end of the day. Now, I’m basically leaving all charts open, and having to spend a significant amount of time after work, just sitting there and finishing charts. That’s the biggest disappointment.

TERRIBLE

They took a wonderful app and absolutely ruined it. It is much slower to use. Unfortunately, it is closer to the desktop version of the software which is not a good thing. Please let me go back to the old version. This is intolerable.

Clinical worst

First and foremost an app should be simple, quick to maneuver through to get your task, completed in a timely manner. This version is so cumbersome and time consuming just to do the simplest task. The previous version was simplicity and accuracy all combined. There was very very little wrong with it. Not enough to warrant such a drastic change. This new version makes my timing moving from patient to patient longer. Having to click through so many different sections is not the best use of my time, especially when you’re trying to see upwards of 16 patients or more per day and to have your charts completed in a timely manner. This is definitely not an improvement.

Very Slow

We upgraded to the newest version three weeks ago. Having been very efficient with the previous version and enjoying it more than the desktop version, I have to say that the opposite is true here. Running on my iPad Pro, this version runs much slower, with longer loading times in between screens (it times out with an error 20% of the time. It also has taken many normal practice functions, and made them require far more on the screen. One example: trying to fill a prescription request from my inbox rather than it bringing up the patient’s med list right on that screen, I’m forced to go to the virtual visit and pull the meds in there. The notes also take a good amount longer, as the individual load screens just take longer to get done. Another is that while you’re dictating, if a character such as a degree sign is placed, it automatically deletes your whole paragraph rather than notifying you of this to correct- highly annoying. The billing format is also worse, as it is harder to enter all of the diagnosis codes in than it was previously. Hopefully these problems will be addressed in future updates, but right now, I find myself having to go back to the desktop version more to get my work done. As others have said, it should be made easier, not harder to get things done.
