Just a terrific app!
The App Store description for Mela does not do justice to how great this app is. I test drove several similar apps - paid and free - and opted for Mela as having the most polished UI bar none, for browsing recipes from various feeds, saving and adjusting recipes, sharing, and most importantly its presentation and interface while cooking. Silvio has been very responsive with bug fixes and continues to enhance the app across the platforms. Thoroughly recommend - It’s just a pleasure to use.
Good App, one quibble
This is a great app. It's dead simple to capture recipes from acrosss the web or add your own recipes manually. I also like that I can generate calendars and grocery lists. One quibble! The app would be perfect if I could change the order of groceries in my list once it's generated.
Delightful
It's nicely laid out, imports Paprika files, and has great features. The only downside? The icon. The icon is just a square with a circle in it. 🙈 I have no idea what it is in my dock.
Great, until gone
This app was awesome, but somehow all of my data and recipes got wiped out. Suddenly, I opened it one day and it was all gone.
Great app and UI, I would expect this quality from the developer of Reeder
That said, I would love some extra features - Browser extension to add RSS feeds (like in Reeder - The feeds view only has recipes, what if I also want all the content in those blogs as well, I want to use Mela for all food related blogs
Wonderful, Aside from Browsing
Mela has been the best recipe manager I've used of a few. The interface is clean, without a bunch of multi-step fatigue when choosing recipes. The real shine for Mela is the cooking view. On Mac and iPad you have a persistent pane with your ingredients, and a clear view of directions. You can also add multiple timers on the same screen! Other recipe managers I've used aren't any better than viewing a site, so I appreciate Mela being innovative. If I could change anything about Mela, it would be to allow support for Safari extensions. I don't know whether this is possible, but cooking websites have an aggravating amount of ads and other intrusive data tracking practices. Mela doesn't collect any information, and it would be wonderful if the browser followed the same privacy rules. If I want to support a cooking site I buy their cookbook, online ads are a cancer.
Mela renders Paprika Obsolete
Coming from Paprika, the modern UI/UX is breathtaking. Simultaneously minimalistic and powerful, Mela gives you everything you need to manage your recipes simply. It just works. The Apple mentality applied to recipes makes this feel like a first party app.
NEW - Support for notes in Calendar which means you can create an entry without having to add a recipe. Notes can also be added to recipe calendar entries. - Recipe list
