The AmpliFi app simplifies the process of connecting and managing all of your Amplifi Wi-Fi devices, including: Alien, HD, Gamer’s Edition, Instant, and Meshpoint products. The AmpliFi app offers the simplest way to add, monitor, configure, and upgrade your network. You’ll be able to: - View key diagnostic information, like a connected devices summary, upload/download activity, your IP address, and real-time network speed data. - Create an in-home guest network for visiting family and friends, or give them remote access to your local network via the AmpliFi Teleport VPN app. - Control your family’s screen time with the ability to pause connected devices. Please visit help.amplifi.com for more information about AmpliFi Wi-Fi products, or for troubleshooting recommendations from the Ubiquiti support team and user community.
App vs. Support
While still selling for full retail price, the Ubiquiti Alien product that this was meant to support - has ZERO support from the parent company - Ubiquiti. Take heed, as the next new product will be old in less than two years, and their mindset appears to be geared towards building new product, and not supporting yesterdays deliveries. While this s/w is somewhat insightful, its usefulness is overshadowed by the lack of support to address the quirks that become apparent through use of the app.
Issues out of the box
Having issue with mesh node wirelessly disconnecting from its router. Bought as an Alien pair. Signal between two is strong (Great! 40dbm). Haven’t had product installed for more than three days and the node will not stay connected for a continuous 24hr period. Have followed instructions including factory reset but problem prevails. At one point no matter the action taken I could not get the devices to re-pair/reconnect no matter what I tried. Eventually (hours later) a power cycle was successful only to have them disconnect again within 24hrs. Router always seems to work well. I purchased two of the Alien kits and have only opened one; hesitant to open the second. So far unfortunately I am not too impressed. Set-up was easy to accomplish, pretty much “plug and play.”
Excellent Modem
Secure, easy to set up, easy to re configure. Love the teleport options. Solid device all around. Was referred to it by an IT and Musician friend here locally and it’s never let me down, much like him.
Flawed Device & Flawed App with Disengaged Developers
I don't generally "get in the thread" on products, but this one is different. I live in an urban environment with over 80 wifi networks and emergency radio equiment within 100 feet of my apartment. I live in a small 680 sq ft appartment and I had to purchase a second alien router to create a semi-reliable wifi network. This app is lacking, the device is buggy and the support for this product is disengaged. I have shared diagnostic logs and feedback about the router and the app on multiple occasions. The responses are dismissive and vauge. In some cases they try to gaslight me to avoid any responsiblity for their lack of planning and implementation. The router's screen is helpful, however it turns off randomly, ignores "night mode." and I find I have to power cycle them often to improve wifi reliability. The app lacks summary information. like device connection health, information displayed on the device that helps troubleshoot and identify weak spots... is NOT carried over to the app for some reason. Developers say "it's designed to be a simple product." which I find odd, nothing about gamers, who this product is targeted suggest they are looking for "simple" in the tech they use. I'm writing this review to draw attention to a trend with tech companies releasing half-baked products forcing consumers to become unpaid beta testers. Avoid this product until the ratings improve.
Utter garbage
I can’t stress enough how putrescent this app is. It’s totally non-functional, and won’t do anything but tell me “Oops! Something went wrong!” Yes, something did go wrong when decided to buy this piece of garbage pretending to be network equipment.
Love this
Great service
Oops, something went wrong!
The perfect app if you want constant error messages and zero functionality. The Android version works fine, but the iOS version is pathetic by comparison.
