Bugs galore
Seriously, fix your app. You have to nail the basics.
Just okay
Solid meh no frills app. Not as good as Garmin as you’ll have to rely on Strava and Training Peaks to cover performance and training. Annoying broken gear ratio programming for new Ultegra 8170. I’m so sick of seeing 2-5 instead of 52-17. Support says it’s a known bug but it’s been months since I asked.
Love it
It’s pretty lit
Software needs work
Training Peaks export continues to be junk after whatever recent change was done to how it syncs. I wouldn’t buy one of these at the moment.
I hate Wahoo
Every time there’s an update something goes wrong and data won’t export to other synced apps. Such a waste of time trying to import my workouts into Training Peaks
App is great when it works
App constantly freezes up. If I don't manually close it, it will get hung up and when I finish a ride it hasn't saved to the app, so I have to go turn my Bolt back on. Annoying.
Love the Roam2, not the app
The Elemnt Roam computer is a huge upgrade in user friendliness from my Garmin Edge 830. I don’t miss the touchscreen in the least and find overall use and customization of the computer screen far easier. That said, other parts of the ecosystem are less than perfect… Most relevant here, updating the computer from the app is successful only rarely. I try routinely, but selecting “Update” in the app just causes the new-version-available notice to briefly disappear, and the computer remains unchanged; likewise, checking for updates from the computer settings is merely a drain on the battery. Another annoyance is new for me, as I’ve owned the unit only 9 mos: I link my unit to Strava, but now the app shows that I need to Reauthorize Strava (this may be an issue with Strava integration alone, as I don’t need to reauthorize Apple Health). Consistently, I follow the reauthorization path through the app, and it seems to work, but quickly app Settings indicates that I must reauthorize (again). This state doesn’t seem to affect seamless exporting of rides to Strava, so it’s minor issue that doesn’t affect functionality. Less minor, however, is the performance of their Tickr HR monitor. It was quite disturbing the first time I watched my apparent HR go from 150 to 160 to 170 to 190… before it locked up at 225bpm. I’d like to think I’m so fit, but in my 60s, I thought I was suffering a cardiac event and quickly pulled to the roadside. My AppleWatch and checking my pulse manually were the only assurances that kept me from calling 911! Since then, the Tickr is sometimes accurate but often bounces around wildly. Despite these issues, as long as I leave the Tickr at home, I love the Roam 2 and can live with the foibles of the app. Blows away Garmin with their clunky interface and terrible apps!
