Pretty App 💗

The app is super pretty and definitely user friendly and easy to navigate! It would definitely be helpful if the app would add not just a check box for each exercise for the workout but maybe a checkbox for each set in that exercise so I can track how many sets I’ve done and maybe a little toggle to turn on/off for an automatic timer after each set is complete! Or something of that sort :) I think that would be so helpful! It would also be super convenient to move workouts from one day to another if something happened where I missed a day but I moved that workout for another day! For example Monday is Glute day but something came up Monday so it would be great to move the Mon workout to Tuesday. Other than that the app is very easy and super pretty :) Update! Still love but would also be super cool if we’re not doing a workout program at the moment where we can still log workouts in, on a blank slate. For example if I finished one program - and am taking a break until the next one but still want to track my workouts, it would be cool to add my workout for Mon with the exercises I did that day. another thing! I also know there is a little notes tab for when you workout one of the exercises but it would also be cool to manually log how much weight you did per set too to keep track :)

Great programs, app functionality could be a lot better

I’ll echo what other reviews have said— the app could use some major functionality tweaks. I’m currently doing the Power program, and while I love the program itself, the way the app works makes no sense. Workout and exercise instructions are on the main workout page, along with a place you can enter notes/weight/reps. However, when you’re in the middle of the workout you can’t access this page unless you close out of the app and then go back in…it makes no sense and makes the process very clunky. I’m having to take screenshots of the main page just to know the EMOM times, weight I should be using, etc. In my opinion that’s not something I should need to do when paying for a membership like this.

It’s 2024 and we can do better.

I’ve been using MWU (bbr) for years, and I find the workouts helpful. The meals are yummy. And the app is pretty. Being able to toggle modifications is helpful, and the visuals are on point. The branding really inspires. However, the app itself could definitely use some improvements. It is outdated and lacking, especially in comparison to other fitness apps like Nike or Ladder. I’m actually writing this review because I recently came back to MWU after using Ladder specifically, and I was disappointed to see that there has still been no improvement here. Sure, new workouts and new content, but the app is still 👎🏾and for the price point of the membership…we can do better MWU! One issue that has never been fixed is the app exiting out of the workout if you toggle to another app. For example, let’s say I’m in a rest for 90 seconds and I go to shoot a quick text. Not only does the timer not continue in the background, sometimes the workout just ends all together. This is incredibly frustrating. I found myself starting my own timer, then going to shoot a quick text, then going back to MWU when my iPhone timer goes off, just to restart the workout where I left off after it’s kicked me out. This is too much! Not being able to connect the workout to my Apple Watch in any way is a massive con. Again, I have to manually use my Apple fitness app to track when my workout begins and ends, and it’s easy to forget to do this. Other apps (like Ladder) prompt you to connect once you begin a workout, and automatically finishes tracking once you finish the workout AND it shows you a calendar of your tracked workouts. I wish we could have this with MWU. Lastly, there is no social aspect to this app, other than taking a picture at the end of your workout and sending it…to Facebook. Everything social is outside of the app…in a Facebook group. A FB group full of eating disorders, body dysmorphia, and bad advice. Not to mention lurkers. I know the apps founding lady Rachel is making major moves in her personal life, and I love that she lets that inspire the workouts and challenges. In turn, it inspires me. It’s beautiful to see! However, it’s starting to feel like MWU App has turned into a machine that runs in the background. And it feels like it’s more about branding and business than it is about making a great app. We can do better!

App is constantly crashing

I purchased a 6 week program, and everything was going well. Lately the app has been crashing. It’ll show an error message and even restart my workout while I’m in the middle of it. Right now I can’t even look at my program now. I’m on week four, and was really enjoying the hybrid program. Not sure what’s going on, but I probably won’t get another program from this app in the future.

Everything is great except…

Everything is great except when I leave the app during rests, it doesn’t keep counting down. Love the workouts and design of the app!
