Description

The James Smith Academy (JSA) is an online personal training platform. Built on the method of famous online personal trainer James Smith, the JSA aims to educate its members in fitness and provide them with all the tools necessary to reach and sustain their fitness goals. Features (depending on your membership type) include hundreds of educational and instructional videos, personalised exercise programs, daily (James Workouts) workouts, a Daily Step Count (which integrates with the Health app to access your daily step, if you choose), hundreds of recipes, a meal planner, trainer support, progress tracking and three month challenges.

The James Smith Academy is free to download. Our free trial, which begins when you create an account with us, does not expire and does not require purchase to activate. If you would like to access content and features which are not available on the free trial, you must upgrade to a paid subscription. You may pay for a subscription using In-App Purchase found on the pricing page of the app.

The James Smith Academy subscription automatically renews monthly (at the price depending on your location) unless it is canceled at least 24h before the current period ends. Your Apple ID will be charged for renewal within 24h prior to the end of the current period. You can manage or turn off auto-renew by going to your Account Settings on the App Store after purchase.

Good Service - App Crashing

I’m enjoying the experience and big fan of JS. Rating is because today I got stuck on two screens and close/x didn’t work. This meant I had to shut the app and reload the workout from the start.

Was Really Hoping To Try This

I really like James Smith, so I wanted to give his app a chance. But the app Is broken. I couldn’t get past the about me page (no next button), and it never saved what I was able to input. Really disappointed!

Poor platform - Even worse coaches - James nowhere to be seen

Joined as a block member in order to take part in a challenge. Condescending communication from one coach and mixed messaging from others. No dedicated coach so constantly repeating yourself over and over. App isn’t very smooth or intuitive and feels very poorly put together. Challenge portion needs massive upgrades to usability. Giving two stars based solely on the workouts and modifications made by that team, they were very helpful unlike the coaches. The rest of the experience was awful. The final straw is that you will see no sign of a James himself. Another money making scheme exploiting those of us who struggle in this area…….

Coaching doesn’t listen.

Paid for a full membership. The coaching staff didn’t listen to mobility issues or equipment limitations. Also the interface is extremely confusing. Don’t waste your money.

If you want to lose weight this is it!

I’ve been using this app and I’ve been a premium member for a year. The app has always been nice. They make updates to the app every once in a while that makes things feel fresh and new. If I ever have an issue (once because I was trying to switch from paying through Apple to through the app). I contacted “tech support aka james Shaw). He was so responsive and fixed my issue within an hour! In 1 year I’ve lost over 20lbs and I’ve gained so much knowledge that I’m not afraid that after this “diet” I will gain it back. I now know how to lose the weight! This app has teaching, accountability, amazing workouts, and a great interface!

Excellent Resource

Great information, easy to follow instruction videos. Just joined the Academy and have to say I am impressed by my interactions with the trainers and the exercise plan they put together for me.
