Turmoil+ offers players a visually charming, tongue-in-cheek take on the simulation genre inspired by the 19th century oil rush in North America. Get a taste of the rush and rivalry of the time as you earn your way to become a successful oil entrepreneur. As you make money digging up and selling oil, the town will grow along with you. Lease land at the town auction and search for oil. Build a rig, create an efficient pipe network and bring up the oil to store it in silos. Sell the oil at the best times to maximize profits. Then buy essential upgrades in town to cope with rock, gas and ice. Acquire more town shares than your competitors in a bid to become the new mayor. - A campaign where you build your rags-to-riches oil baron career and beat your rivals. - Dozens of upgrades and new tools to improve your oil mining operations. - Maximize your profits by using natural gas to boost the oil price. - Outbid your competitors at the stock auction. - Meet the town’s characters in the saloon and make shady business deals. - Play single game mode to get one of literally millions of procedurally generated levels and earn as much as you can in one year. Turmoil+ - The Heat Is On is a new campaign with tons of oil to dig up and convert into cash! It is designed to make you feel right at home, but at the same time offer lots of new mechanics and fun features. Here's what you can expect! - A new town (and mayor!) and a new oil-rich map divided into three areas. - In each area, new drilling mechanics are introduced, powered by a new underground substance: magma. - You'll see familiar faces like Edward and Fred and William. They brought their goods with them in train wagons, so you can instantly stock up on all your favorite drilling gear. - There are also new people, like Philip, who runs a shady card game in the saloon. - Jack is a new character that runs a magma tools operation from his shed. He likes chicken. - Anthony is also back from last time. Instead of dealing in diamonds, he has his own store where you can sell and buy all sorts of underground treasures. - The new mayor is not quite like the old one. His tips are free, and he uses a different auction system. But shares still cost money! - There's a cat walking around the village! He doesn't do a whole lot, but what can you expect from these creatures? - And last but not least: a couple of brand new music tracks! The metagame in this new DLC-campaign offers more depth. Instead of diamonds, a total of 9 underground treasures are available. Collecting them all (by trading or digging them up) will offer great benefits. Besides this, the village offers even more things to do, like playing a card game for money.
Fun little game
I enjoyed this fun little game. Just enough strategy without being too crazy complex. I can understand some people might want more of a challenge but I’d say try the expert mode if that’s you (I don’t recall if you need to beat the game on normal to unlock this but if so maybe the devs should consider making it available from the get go). A little buggy though nothing too bad. At one point I zoomed in on the playfield just before a prompt occurred where you have to click on it to dismiss it but because it was offscreen I was stuck as the prompt disables all other input. Had to close the app to recover. Also if you save and quit during a level it doesn’t seem to load back correctly. I am not using Game Center (lockdown mode). Dowsers I had out and waving when I saved seemed to disappear for example. I saved and quit at the start of the final island level. Should have known better. When I opened the game back up it displayed all the game over stuff, and I didn’t get to play the last level at all. Bummer.
LOVE THIS GAME, but…
There needs to be more content! New opponents, more challenges, different tasks to achieve, ways to bump up the difficulty, etc.
LOVE this game, but…
This is a great sim game, but it’s not without its flaws. 1. It crashes during almost every level, sometimes more than once. This is on the expert levels. 2. Needs more gameplay- different characters whose AI acts differently, other quests. 3. It would be nice to be able to skip the tutorials. Despite all that, I can’t stop playing yet. :-)
Eh
This games controls are why I gave it a 3 star. It’s super hard to get the drills turned on and off. Connecting pipes is a pain. All while you are fidgeting with this, you are wasting time/days. This game could be epic but it needs work. The developers only update it a few times a year, so I’m not going to hold my breath. Easy mode is too easy and hard mode is almost too hard. The poor controls make it hard to win against the computer. While I’m wasting days turning pumps on and off for gas control, the computer players are making money and winning.
A game like the old days.
Good stuff. Nothing fancy, just a fun game. Highly recommend.
macOS/Desktop version please!
Please make a desktop version for macOS or Linux! I'd buy it in an instant! I love this game and the only thing missing is being able to sit at my desk on my 4k ultrawide using my mouse and keyboard.
Turmoil is great but it’s still needs work
Even though it’s been around for years I still think that the game should be better and have more depth into the mechanics of how to play and what happens if you got all the oil than should there be a sequel or some other level that takes you to another dimension. That’s what a game should be, but they just wasted their time on repeating themselves on a level of detail and simplicity. The developers need to think once more about their game or make another attempt at the sequel! I still enjoy the game even if it’s flawed.
