The award-winning RPG finally on the Mac App Store! “The Witcher” takes the classic story driven RPG that we all know and love and couples it with dynamic, fast paced and beautifully animated combat action. You play as Geralt of Rivia, a legendary monster-slayer for hire. Once fully human, mutation now has endowed you with supernatural abilities. These abilities, joined with the swords you wield, the alchemic knowledge you possess and magical powers at your fingertips combine to make you deadly to all that oppose you. “The Witcher” features a complex plot, where difficult choices you must face give it a definite edge over other RPGs. The true consequences of your actions may not be revealed until hours later in the game. And, in contrast to the clichéd “good vs evil” conflict, ”The Witcher” confronts you with mature decision making in a world of gray, where your judgment will sometimes be in favor of the lesser of two evils. Set in a dark fantasy world with a unique medieval, yet somewhat modern, feel to it, The Witcher isn't just another fantasy RPG. With a deep story, complex characters, and tough choices that actually matter, this game will keep you glued to your monitor for days. Features: • You will need a plan to make wise decisions and think through combat tactics. Over-reliance on your reflexes is what will get you killed • Uncontested swordsmanship, uncanny night vision, unrivaled knowledge of alchemy, and ability to spark desire in women and trepidation amongst foes • Training, trials and tribulations let you tap into supernatural abilities that have mutated your body • Non-linear Decisions and Consequences • A vast set of choices, each with it own impact on the fate of the fantasy world. Retracing your steps with different decisions will unlock alternative endings and previously unseen sequences System Requirements: Operating System: MAC OS X 10.6.0 | Processor: Intel Core2 Duo (Core i5 or i7 recommended) | Video Cards: Nvidia 320M or better, Ati Radeon 6750M or better, Intel HD 3000 or better | Memory: 2GB (4GB recommended) | 10,5 GB Free Disk Space
SCAM!!!
I should have heeded the warnings. I PAID and downloaded this game. IT DOESN'T WORK! This is a scam!!!!
Should have looked at the reviews
When I saw the game on app store, I was just excited to give it a try. Should have started off at the reviews. Even so, I have the exact system that is spec'd in the system requirements. Dual Core i5 processors. macOS Catalina V 10.15.7. Intel HD Graphics 4000. 4GB memory. 200GB available storage. All I get is "Error The Game Failed to Initialize." How is it possible to sell a game that is unplayable? I'll keep the game as a historical purchase in case they come up with a solution or update at some point. Hot Garbage.
Game failed to initialize
Said it was "compatible for this mac" but that is a lie.
Error: The game failed to initialise
I have a 2018 MacBook Pro with a 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, and an intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB card. I just installed this game and can't even launch it. I get an error stating "The game failed to initialise." Furthermore, there is no refund available through the app store, so I just wasted $20. Even though this game is marketed as Mac compatible, it is not! Do not waste your money!
Won't work on Apple Silicon
Don't get this if you've an M1 or M2 Mac. It simply won't run. Despite updating it for a 64-bit system like Catalina, there's no option (unlike some apps) to go into the main file, right click on "get info" and set it to play through Rosetta. I bet if all they did was enable it to be used "translated" by Rosetta, Rosetta would do most of the work for them, and we'd be able to play this game. It's that simple. You've made it 64-bit friendly, just made it Rosetta friendly, you don't have to do much, guys, but it would go a long way, Rosetta would do all the work for you, and you'd be getting a lot more customers, especially people who love the idea of playinig The Witcher 1 and 2 on their MacBook Air M1s and M2s. Just having the turn Rosetta on option in the "get info" right click on the executable (main file) would make this playable. Come on, just set it up so Rosetta can do the job it's been given — and alll will be forgive, you'll get good scores, you'll develop a new player base, you'll make a lot more money. Seriously, how are can it be to implement? Assign one coder on it for a week or two, that's it.
Get on GOG, this version wont launch
App fails to launch. Period.
Crashes
The game does not run on a Mac with Monterey and M1 pro max. Just keep crashing to desktop. Same on Witcher 2.
