United StatesGood Game But It’s Initially Frustrating
To beat this game: 1) Set difficulty to easy at first (duh) 2) Turn injuries off 3) Your pitcher has an unrealistic amount of control over ball movement. Take advantage by pitching a breaking or wiggly curve ball by starting a pitch with the joystick control at 12 o’clock. When the ball moves over the home plate dirt line pull the joystick sharply down to the 6 o’clock position and move it left, right or wiggle it. The batter will often whiff. Beware, if you execute this slow speed pitch poorly it often results in an extra base hit. 4) Break the pitch to the inside or outside. Start with the joystick in a neutral position and as the ball crosses the home plate dirt line push the stick to 6 o’clock and break it inside or outside. This pitch produces many fouls and pop ups. A good combo is two breaking pitches followed by a curve to finish the batter. 5) Know your pitchers. Look at the pentagon icon on the roster screen which shows the pitcher’s speed, curve ball control, etc. Pitchers with a high “C” rating are best at throwing the curve. 6) Use your relievers. I usually pitch the starter for 5-6 innings followed by a middle reliever and then a closer. Tired pitchers give up hits. With injuries off you can have a three starting pitcher rotation and ignore your sucky pitchers. 7) When batting, try to match the batters position with the pitcher. If the pitcher moves two steps to the batter’s right, move the batter to the right. 8) If injuries are turned off, it’s fairly easy to get 3-4 bases each game from hit batters. This works best when the pitcher moves two steps laterally toward the batter. Move the batter as far as possible toward the plate and take the pitch.
