Santander Portugal needs major overhaul
The settings available on this app are very basic—a design showing its age of 4+ years. All other apps have been modernized to include notifications, contacts, etc. More importantly, two factor authentication using SMS is not reliable outside Portugal. Other banking apps use QR codes and auto-generated security codes that are extremely reliable. One example is the Santander do Brasil app. No need to go any further, just copy their app!

Today my Santander app is frozen doesn’t even let me put in my access code. Don’t know what to do as I have to pay bills
User identification method through SMS
After my below comments, I got a reply from the developer that they are working on a new version in which validation code by SMS can be changed to new methods (21st of May). New version came but the same two factor validation by SMS is still there. Can anybody tell me when this will be resolved? I almost never receive this validation SMS …….. The problem I am facing is that, every now and then, the application impose a new round of two factor identification : one by password or finger print, and one through sending a code by SMS. For me, almost always in travel and outside Portugal, this is very troublesome. I almost never receive the sms when I am in travel ….. There should be other ways such sending by email or even automatically calling and sending the code by voice……. Now, due to this problem, the application is useless for me. Miremadi
