Óptima app
App bastante completa e simples de usar. Gostaria de deixar 2 sugestões que podem melhorar a usabilidade da aplicação. Ser possível remover contas agregadas de outros bancos, neste momento quando se adiciona uma conta de outro banco, não é possível remover a conta mesmo após a autorização expirar. Na parte do orçamento financeiro seria extremamente útil poder selecionar quais as contas a utilizar e não ser forçado a ter todas as contas.

The technical problems raised by many users simply prevent you from using your bank account if you are a foreigner not living in Portugal. Until Novo Banco is serious about this and fixes the app technical problems, don't use Novo Banco as your bank because you can't do any important operation with your account. The reason is because any transaction, payment and even download of bank statements from the bank website requires that you authenticate/confirm with the app. To do this, you first need to register the app for authentication and then approve each operation from the app. The problem is that if you have a phone number that is not Portuguese (in my case US number), you do not receive the code to enroll your phone for authentication and the app won't be notified to validate operations that you do with your bank account. You are basically stuck. Novo Banco needs to fix this, make their 2-factor authentication work, support foreign phone numbers (I don't have issues with other services). Until they do, you can't do bank operations with your account. I have been with Novo Banco for 5 years but I'll have to switch to a different bank the next time I am in Portugal so I can properly use my account when I am abroad. Ridiculous.

So, as you’ll see, it’s not a loved app. I’ve been with Novo Banco for 2.5 years now and while generally speaking, Novo Banco is a fine bank that supports expats, this app can be infuriating. I’ve had several issues over the years but the latest is incredibly frustrating. It turns out, ALL banking with Novo Banco requires you to use this app, if it stops working, so does your ability to transfer money. They have no online work-around if that app glitches - which it does on occasion. The customer support rep just acknowledged that it’s an issue and they have no ability to override a glitchy app, even after you verify your identity - everything must go through the app. They acknowledge that iPhone’s (only the majority of cell phones worldwide) can sometimes cause them an issue. Heads up for expats using Novo. When signing up initially - make sure you only give a Portuguese cell phone number as part of your identity. A North American number will not receive SMS texts with codes for verification down the road and you’re in for trouble - if not immediately, it will come later. The app does not have an English option - such an easy developer fix, kind of inexcusable in 2023 given how many clients around the world speak English. It’s why Spanish is offered for every service in the U.S. as an option. That Novo Banco has no online workaround for when things wrong - well, be prepared. The only way I can transfer money at the moment is in person at the branch and for new expats - well, that means hours at the bank. Banking is a very different process here than North America - it’s personal service (lovely) but sloooooooow. Banks are the hub for so many services here, especially health, home and auto insurance as well as ‘banking’ - they don’t use tellers. Come in, have a seat (would you like coffee?) aaaand wait. Anyway, it’s a glitchy app but if you use Novo Banco, you have no choice. P.S. Love the customer support response here that mistakenly replied with ‘Good Riddance’ instead of ‘Good Day’. Perfect. 😂

Google apps has an English language version of this app that doesn’t work on my phone. Why can’t there be an iPhone version as well. My Portuguese is not good enough for me to make mistakes with my money!

Uma confusão propositada para impedir o cliente de aceder ás informaçōes básicas e incitar a fazer negócios? Tenho 2 contas mas os responsáveis do banco dão o mesmo nome às duas e depois nunca consigo aceder a uma delas e o dinheiro que é meu está inacessível Péssimo banco, não aconselho a ninguém e hei-de fechar a conta. Protestar com gente incompetente é inútil.
