LEARN LANGUAGES FAST: uTalk gets results because every word you hear is in your new language and you speak, listen and understand from the start. With free starter words in 150+ languages, you can try it risk-free. Score 100% in the games and you can unlock an extra topic for free. WHY UTALK WORKS: 1. LEARN FROM THE LOCALS: We record native speakers so you hear every word pronounced clearly. Mimic their pronunciation and compare your intonation with theirs. Practise until you get it right – you can even slow the audio down if it’s too fast. 2. USEFUL EVERYDAY WORDS AND PHRASES. Topics take around two to three hours to complete. But you can dip in for just five minutes at a time or longer. With 60+ topics, that’s a total of 180 hours of learning. 3. KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED: Check your scores on progress bars as you move through five progressively difficult games. To get full marks, you’ll have to know the words as well as your own language. Extremely useful
Very lovely language app. The folks who run it are great. And there are so many languages and phrases to learn. 100% worth every dollar.
Rote Memorization
It’s only fair to rate this app against the standard or goal for which it was designed — namely (as I understand it) to equip its users with the most common words, phrases, sentences, and questions they are likely to need in a variety of real-world situations. And for this I think uTalk excels. That said, I fail to see how a test of the location of the tiles (or photos and symbols) is a measure of one’s memory of the images they contain and the meanings they represent. After all, a person could forget the location of every single photo and yet have successfully committed to memory all their contents. It would be a more accurate test if uTalk were to include descriptive text either on or just above each tile, and then, after several seconds, to remove the text and replace it with a voice which recites the words — all while the tile remains in place and is not flipped over to display its backside. The user would then have to select the tile or image which corresponds to the voiced words. (Or at other times an image could be highlighted and the user must record their own voice as they recite the correct words.) This change would be a more accurate gauge of how much language content the user is really absorbing.
Great Program & Support
I really enjoy uTalk (and previous uTalk Go) method of teaching languages, especially the native male and female voices for each language. I’ve been using it for years now. Recently, I tried to use it and couldn’t access what I bought. I contacted support and the person I worked with was super helpful and quick to restore my purchases. I highly recommend uTalk!
Great way to learn
Love this app. It helps you to learn so many different words in other languages. You can listen in a male or female voice to hear the differences. You can also slow down the pronunciation to help you better understand or hear the word so you can say it better yourself. Very helpful! I also like that they make it kind of like a game so it’s more enjoyable
The app does not work on iPad
The app opens up to a blue screen with the logo and there is just a spinning wheel for loading and nothing ever loads!
Doesn’t let me cancel my subscription- not helpful.
I was super exited to see that it had Oromo as a language, but when I subscribed to it I saw it was pretty much a dictionary of Oromo, a very very small dictionary. While other languages have more words listed, you cannot learn a language from this app. Don’t waste your money. It’s also super hard to cancel your subscription and I don’t know how, I’m still trying, might have to contact my bank to tell them to block them
A very good language learning tool
UTalk is a great tool for learning other languages. Especially as part of two applications that you can use together to learn new languages. UTalk also offers the largest variety of languages, some that other language learning applications do not. Thank you so much Utalk for the great application and excellent support!
