Learning so fast
I have recommended this to anyone who wants to learn another language. I spent 4 years in Spanish classes between middle and high school, but in 6 months I learned more than all those years combined. The flash card method really helps the information stick. I now listen to podcasts in Spanish and am getting more comfortable starting to speak it with coworkers and friends. I couldn’t recommend it enough.

I really like the idea of the app and the logic behind it. However, I find the sentences old school and not relevant to my life. Also oftentimes they are not inclusive about women and lgbtq folks. I wish there was a function to either come up with my own sentences or at least choose topics. I couldn’t even find sentences with the word tango or bailar. Which is quite basic. But maybe my app didn’t work. I like the word count feature and the level. And I was always writing the sentences on my own, not just speaking them out loud. Was fun but I do want something more up to date and more adjustable to my vocabulary.

Fluent Forever was my breakthrough for learning Spanish. I took classes in middle school, high school, and college but nothing stuck until I tried Fluent Forever. Its method of learning the sounds first and then studying the most commonly used words with picture flashcards is groundbreaking. Now I almost speak conversational Spanish. I recommend Fluent Forever to anyone who wants to learn another language.
United StatesGood little app I’ve rocked with since inception
I hail from the original book and anki flash card method. I enjoy the app and appreciate developer responsiveness. The features and UI leaves something to be desired compared to other language apps I have tried. For example, if an image is taken down or no longer available through the original search engine, the card is still in review despite having an errored “?” l, effectively forcing me to reset the card (in my mind) by marking it incorrect after adding a new, often less memorable image. The interface is basic and not as engaging as other platforms but it gets the job done. Reporting is a step above basic and is helpful but largely self-driven for all things outside the app. There is little incentive to add in all the non-FF things I do if the output is only a weekly bar chart. I’d like to see an uplift but more fine tuned features and UI improvements moving forward.

I have been working with this app for a year. II has become an essential part of my daily self-study regimen for learning Japanese. The Fluent Forever method is effective; the app is a convenient way to put the method into practice. Unfortunately for me, a recent upgrade of the app removed a useful feature in flashcard review. I brought this to the attention of customer support and am hoping it will be restored in a future version. I hope, too, that someday there will be a version of the app intended for iPads.

Excellent way to learn a language. Enjoyable, fun and thoughtful. The emphasis on sounds through minimal pairing is essential for a proper foundation in hearing the language. Learning sentences for building good chunks of language is also very very smart. This app works well on its own, with a class, or one of the coaches from FluentForver. I wish libraries and schools offered this app instead of Mango.
