Talkie Talk is an app designed by speech-language-pathologist Barbara Fernandes. It is designed to support children with limited verbal language, including children with language delays, autism, and who are beginning to learn to use visual support to communicate. Children who are communicating at the one word phrase ( using one word to express wants and needs) will benefit from listening and practicing to combine words to form short two word phrases such as the ones included on this app. It is recommended that parents continue to practice the phrases included on this app throughout the day in a variety of functional contexts to promote understanding of phrases. As children are able to become proficient on dragging the words to create phrases, consider turning off the color coding system on the settings to promote independence. Soon we will be releasing another version of TalkieTot that will support creating three word phrases. Features: - 30 phrases per level ( 90 phrases total) - Child Audio Model of all phrases - Photographs - Symbol Support - Animations
I’m glad I have this!
The internet was down at my work and I was wondering what I would do with my students who are working on core words as their goal. Thank goodness I had downloaded this app just a couple of weeks before! I like the two word meaningful phrases and the real-life photos. Great app!
Great, but I want a pause
UPDATE: there IS a setting to not auto advance; thank you. Now, it’s perfectly wonderful!!!!! As a pediatric SLP, this is a great app! I love the two word core phrases and using actions with nouns so early. However, I would love if smarty ears updated with a pause button or setting that does not auto advance. Often I want the client to practice using the phrase together after they have formed it in the app.
Great for early communicators
