Old Maps shows over 250,000 high-resolution historical maps from 15th to 20th century. Use the app to see your own GPS position on any of the maps, or just browse one by one from your couch. You can set up filters such as year from/to, scale, title or author. Features: Search the location by name, or simply zoom and pan, to get the most accurate results instantly. Scroll the bar with available maps and visit those you like. All maps are location-based and the app can display the relevant maps according to the place where you appear. Download the Old Maps now and enjoy a touch of history in your hand! About: The project OldMapsOnline began in 2012 and indexes over half a million of ancient, antique, vintage and old historic maps from prominent archives and libraries (British Library, National Library of Scotland, David Rumsey…). Impossible to use
You can’t paste in the search bar. You can’t scroll down on a map without it scrolling the bottom page up which is where the other maps are. The maps are not listed in timeline order or any seeming order. Impossible to use.
Great idea, but many problems
The app is a great idea, but it is impossible to zoom all the way in and the maps are too out of focus to read much of the writing. I also think that the user interface could be more straightforward, with a backarrow to return to the previous page.
Bad support for mobile devices
Keeps bugging with zooming and crashes quite a bit.
Unimpressed
First it was supposed to be free but charged my cc $1.25. Then the maps were difficult to navigate and not particularly useful.
Cool app … when it works
Cool in concept but the map zoom is glitchy.
Minor bugs, great app
This is a very good tool, yes the pop ups and glitches can be annoying but just close the app and get back in. It is a very useful resource for planning a Route 66 road trip or looking for abandoned towns that died with the railroad and other uses
Website is better
Problems with zooming. Website is great, app is not.
