An ocean dip with a side of dysentery? No thanks. Our award-winning, free-to-download app is the only national Water Quality service keeping you in the loop with what’s happening where in our waters. When it comes to living in the UK, shit happens. And far too much of it in our waterscapes. Untreated sewage and wastewater regularly gush from thousands of sewer overflows around the country. It stinks. Add to that the impact of severe rainfall – which churns all manner of unknown pollutants into the ocean from farming, septic tanks, roads, and urban areas – and it’s not a pretty picture. The Safer Seas and River Service makes it easy to check in, search out a swim, surf, or sail spot, and be served the latest pollution alert for over 450 locations across the UK. The app also includes complementary beach information including tide times and lifeguard services and allows you to take direct action on water quality issues by getting involved in our campaigns or emailing you MP or Water Company CEO when an alert in place. Users can submit a sickness report if they've become unwell after using the water to help aid our campaigning work and reveal the true extent to which sewage pollution is impacting human health. Want to stay safe in the water and help us end sewage pollution? Download the app Safer Seas & Rivers Service to join the campaign and make informed decisions about where and when you enter the water.
Great app
This is the most useful app on my phone. As a regular sea swimmer it allows me to identify if it’s safe for me to swim. I’ve shared with all our group, The Widewater Mermaids 👏👏
Up to date testing?
How often are the seas and rivers updated. In Lancashire you currently say there’s been a pollution leak on the 29th of Jan ‘24, it’s now 7th of February and it’s still saying the same thing. Your own terms and conditions state readings might not be up to date. Can you please confirm because as someone who uses the beaches daily for work I need to know if it’s clean or not? Thanks
Fantastic! I check it before every swim!
Thanks you SAS!
Hugely valuable app to keep safe from Sewage
This FREE app is a hugely valuable tool in keeping us water users safe from sewage pollution. UK waters are at the mercy of polluting Water Companies and we are sick of getting ill from sewage spills in our sea and inland waters. I’d prefer not to get dysentery thanks to South West Waters inability to manage their overspills. SAS is doing great work so thank you so much for this app and all the great work you are doing 😊
Cold water swimming alerts
Invaluable app to keep an eye on the quality of the water where l sea swim. So useful during the bad weather phases. Forces me into my ice bath or pool but avoids me getting ill!
Brilliant and Important
Get it whether you live near the sea or not. A useful tool. Interesting. Informative. Power in numbers ✊🏼
Great app great up to date information
