Such a shame…
The early versions of this app were fabulous. Fast downloads, great reading experience - totally like reading the magazine without the wait for it to arrive. The latest app is one of the worst apps I’ve used of any type! Download speeds are glacial, the user interface is dreadful and the advertising pages more easily open up the manufacturers website than flip to the next page. Simple solution: go back to the early version of the app! I persist because the magazine is good but the app is truly, utterly, beyond diabolical.
Worse than useless
I’ve lost so much time trying to work out how to read current issues with my current (“SOS Direct”, not in-app) subscription, but nothing works. I contacted support and they suggested resetting ALL my iPad settings. That didn’t help at all and it lost me a lot of time setting everything up again. Skip the app and just read via the web page.
Unstable
I've been struggling with this app for over a year. About 18 months to 2 years ago they upgraded to the current look at the expense of being extremely bug ridden & badly coded. This app is practically unusable, it crashes constantly making any reading impossible, my continued subscription is doubtful even though I've been subscribed for nearly decade.
Editions keep disappearing
Love the SOS mag can’t say same for this app that deletes every edition I download after closing app? This app is badly made - off to download for the 50th time...
Sound on Sound
Hi, love the magazine, have every edition, why is February 2017 not available yet, when you just released March 2017?
A real ipad magazine
This app does more than re-render a print version of the SOS magazine. It formats it nicely for the device and makes it very readable. It also has more content than the print magazine. I wish more magazines would follow this model.
Unstable
Unstable. Doesn't get past the title screen. Crashes so can't read my purchased editions.
v15.1 Bug fixes, redesigned layout with pinch-zoomable images and now iPhone compatibility. Now defaults to download the whole issue.
