Seems to be abandoned?
Love this app but requests for new gear to be added have gone unheeded. Also there seems to be no work being done to add new features or make the product better. Disappointing!
Tbh I have two ideas for an update for this app
Thing one I think patchrat vocal fx should be digital so I can use them and thing two patchrat should be an auv3 plugin I made concepts for it
Patchrat is the future of session recall
My engineer buddies are pretty amazed when it comes time to recall a session and I break out Patchrat. Not only does it retain the accuracy of every dial-in in far more detail than I ever could by hand, but it looks absolutely astonishing. With new gear interfaces coming out seemingly every few weeks, this app gets better and better. I personally was a little slow and oblivious to certain functionality as a new user, so make sure to hit the help buttons to see exactly how everything works in the app. Once you’re in, you’re in and honestly you’ll never go back to recall sheets and scrawlings. Lastly, from the short dialogues I’ve had with the creator of Patchrat, I can tell you that they are incredibly responsive, open and truly care about their user base and functionality. I’ve gotten locked into a lot of apps where there is no user support whatsoever, and this is not one of them. They’re truly passionate about who is using the app and what they are getting out of it. Get it !!!
Wish it was better
Unfortunately, Patchrat is an incomplete app. They have a decent enough gear database, but any gear that has overlapping knobs such as API EQ’s, Heritage’s 500 series stuff, Tonelux, the bottom knobs are unable to be changed. Very disappointing. I wish they would just put the work in to make this a fully functioning app, which they should have done before making it available on the App Store. Sorry Patchrat dudes :( love the idea
The best Hardware Recall app in the universe
I can’t stress enough how Amazing this app is. It’s truly a game changer. The customer service is amazing & they get back to you literally in minutes with solutions. I recommend this app for all mixing & mastering engineers.
This is awesome!
No more notebooks, no more spending an hour writing for recall. It’s all there. all in the convince of my phone, iPad or computer. This is amazing !
Inefficient and incomplete
I heard some buzz and was pretty excited about checking out this app as an alternative to paper recall sheets or just taking photos. Come to find out about half my gear was available in their library and some of the units were incomplete (dials couldn’t be set). Why even offer a “template” that is unusable? I clicked on the “help” button and it took me to a “Lorem Ipsom” page... that’s what developers use as a placeholder for actual text that hasn’t been inserted yet. This app is clearly still under development. What’s more, pinching and dragging on my phone to get to the buttons and knobs on my device templates is even more difficult than dialing in the actual devices, so you’re doing more than double the work to document. If you already have a smartphone, just take a photo an move on. Cool idea, poor execution, certainly NOT a time saver or worth a cent as a paid app or subscription purchase.
This update fixes a minor bug causing gear GUIs to not be centered when they are first displayed. It also adds back the use of the translucent navigation bar in the gear interface view.
