There are three subscription tiers available: Plus, Pro and Lightning Pro. They enable widgets, notifications, maps & premium weather service providers.

Appy Weather is privacy-first. It doesn’t collect or process any user data.
If location permission is granted, your location will be stored locally on your device – it’s never shared with a third party.
Your location enables hyper-local forecasting when the app is run. Widgets & notifications check your location in the background when they’re updated/sent.
Nothing special & Overpriced even for most basic features
It's getting harder to justify a subscription on this. Especially the more expensive tier. The major update isn't happening now it seems and the very few updates that have come out over the past year have been minimal at best. The roadmap has not been updated in some time and the Dev has not provided any info on anything. I do realize that life gets in the way, but you do have an app here that people have sub'd to.
Been getting a lot of 100% participation warnings that don't happen
Widgets need a lot of work, they look messy and don't follow system theme; system changes to white the widgets stay black and so on, would be nice to follow Material You colour scheme like some other apps. Notifications not as accurate as other weather apps for upcoming rain (even when adjusted for lower probability). The app itself is nicely laid out, but as mentioned above that makes is a no go for me.

The developer is very responsive, which is great. I wasn't able to get the app to work with the location after the last updates (January 2024), but after uninstalling, reinstalling, and just typing in the location I wanted, it is now working well enough.
Paid for pro and it seems fine, except for the radar option. For some reason the radar is just a static image with no option to advance. I've tried everything to fix this but nothing seems to work. One of the reasons I paid for pro was for the radar hence 2 star reduction in my rating.
for the app to be allowed background location updates, give permission via the app’s system settings -> Location screen. You’ll need to change it so it’s allowed access all the time (not just when using the app). Also, you’ll be prompted to allow notifications if you’re a sub on launch.
